We just moved into our house a few months ago. There still things we have to make it our own.
Since our bedroom is nearly complete. I thought I’d get a head board and complete the room but I couldn’t find something I like so I thought with my husband help we can make our own headboard and I gave it $200 budget.
First I found these room deviders in Amazon.ca. The design of these deviders is something I was looking for. They are 15” X 15”. Then I measured the bed and figured out how many of the deviders I would need.
Then I need the board to nail those deviders on. So I went to Home Depot and and picked up MDF board and have them cut to the measurement I needed.
I also picked up ply cap mouldings so I can put them around the board to frame the headboard. This is just example of the plycap. You would try to get it as long as your headboard.
I was going to paint the board but I came up with a better solution. I picked up a couple of rolls of contact paper instead. Just peel and stick it on the board. It took me about 20 mins to do that part.
Then I place those deviders on the board make sure to space them evenly between them and don’t forget to leave enough space for the ply cap mouldings.
I used white thumb tacks to pin the deviders down to the board. If you do this on your floor make sure you have another board underneath and the thumb tacks would go through the board and could scratch your floor.
We put the board up and to my surprised the deviders are not completely flat to the board
So I had to take all the deviders out and go get spray adhesive and sprayed the back of the deviders and pin them back. The result is worth it.
I had my husband cut the ply cap mouldings to frame the head board.
And voila! You are done! Very easy process really. Just need to do your measurement.
And I did stay under the my budget!!
