On this day today in 2010, Laszlo Hanyecz paid 10,000 BTC for two pizzas—worth about $41 at the time. Today, that amount would be worth more than a Billion USD, making those arguably the most expensive pizzas ever bought. And this is still an Understatement. Watch his story in the short video below.

Dumbest thing ever?

If we read this today many think „How could he do that?“ or „That’s the dumbest thing I ever heard.“
Well, although this is kind of the first impression one could get, lets remember we have 2025 now. This Pizza transaction happened 15 years ago when Bitcoin was far from todays status and only 18 months old. This transaction back then was the first proof that BTC can buy real world value, namely two big Pizza. It was an important step. Who had known back then that these 10k BTC could almost buy the whole Pizza Hut Franchise today!? And hey, this guy achieved something that few will ever accomplish: a note in the Bitcoin History Book that is written onwards as we speak.
