Bullish for Now, But the Fed Narrative Remains Unclear
Markets are green today: Stocks, Gold, and Bitcoin are all gaining nicely. Why?
Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller said today that he is leaning toward keeping interest rates steady at the central bank’s September meeting, provided there are no surprises in the upcoming inflation data.
His remarks seem to contrast with statements made last week by Chairman Kevin Warsh. Waller expressed confidence in the current inflation trends, saying that the impact of tariffs has likely been muted and that higher energy prices haven’t had a substantial impact on other parts of the economy.
Overall, this is a bullish signal for the markets. But we’ll have to wait until mid-September to see what really happens, especially since there still seems to be no clear narrative within the Fed.
Keep your heads down and keep some powder dry. Things are likely to remain volatile.
