In this opening photograph, you can see the most photogenic building in the village called Shikichi, a couple of kilometers from the city of Pula. In the following shot ... ... you can take a better look at the traffic signs in front of it. It seems that you can come across deer and people on that short stretch of road to the city. I don't know. Never saw a deer there. Humans are quite usual though. While I was photographing the street, the house and the traffic signs, a friend of mine was busy buying stuff in the small grocery store across the road. Here you can see the property and the house near the store. The pile of stones suggests that something could be built soon on that piece of land. I don't know, maybe it will. Besides the pile of stones, you can also see some simple little towers ... ... near the pile. Someone also built the same kind of tower on the top of the pile. Today, while writing the post, I found out that those stacked stones are called stone cairns. The cairn looked cool with the chimney of the neighboring house in the shot. The shopping in Shikichi was soon done, and we continued northwards. The next stop was in the large parking lot on the outskirts of Vodnjan. Vodnjan is a small town 20 kilometers north of my place. I never saw this lovely little fast food on wheels before The mobile food kiosk was closed, unfortunately, so I wasn't able to taste and photograph the stuff that one can get there. Not far from that colorful little truck ... ... in the same parking lot, there was a much bigger one. That one is a store, and it was open. In that truck turned into a fruit - store, I bought plenty of delicious, homegrown apples and tangerines from the fertile estuary of the river Neretva at the southern end of the Croatian coast. I also photographed the lady that runs the store. After eating a couple of tangerines there on the spot, we drove directly to Bale. Bale is a lovely old town that offers many photogenic vistas, but that's another story. This one ends here - THE END.
A week ago, on the 19th of December, I drove to the town called Bale and took a bunch of photographs there. You'll probably see them soon, but not very soon, and not in this post. Today I'll show you what I saw along the road when I stopped to buy some stuff before reaching Bale. I stopped two times, a friend who was there with me did a bit of shopping in two small stores, and I caught the opportunity to photograph some fairly interesting stuff around those stores.
AS ALWAYS HERE ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK.
(Enlargeable)
I like this portrait more than the other photographs taken on that occasion, so I uploaded it here in its original size. You can enlarge the picture by clicking on it.
