Toulouse is figuratively called the "pink" city and the capital of violets. Therefore it is not surprising that a two-day Festival of Violets (Toulouse Violet Festival) takes place every year in early February in Toulouse.
This beautiful flower has become the emblem of the city of Toulouse since 1960, and, thanks to the fame of Toulouse violet, its widespread industrial application in the production of spirits, liqueur and sweets began. It was the representatives of these industries who initiated the creation of the Festival of Violets in 2003, which has since become unusually popular. The capital of violets invites participants and guests from all over the world to admire the floral creations and take part in various thematic conferences. Hundreds of participants (scientists, botanists, producers) from France, Italy, Switzerland, Hungary, Japan, China, Australia and the US gather in February in Toulouse to share their experiences. The main event of the festival is the competition of violets. In addition, there are exhibitions, a fair of flowers and products, attractions that are somehow connected with these beautiful flowers.
