Roughly 184 years ago, Ada of Lovelace who is credited as being the first programmer met Charles Babbage an Englishmen and mathematician and the creator of the difference engine.
He was the hardware and she was the software and together they became partners in code.
Charles Babbage created a machine that could perform mathematical calculations and over the following years Babbage and Lovelace worked together to create the general purpose computer. Charles designed the hardware, while Ada wrote the complex software required to make the first computer run.
Before she died, Ada Lovelace realized that their inventions could tackle far more than math. Rather, a computer could accomplish "whatever we know how to order it to perform." We do indeed owe a lot two these two and the early forms of cryptography that’s now allow us to create crypto currencies.
