How to Record Stripchat with CaptureGem: Setup, Quality, and Saved Files

CaptureGem can save an authorized public Stripchat stream through its desktop app. The useful first check is the site selector: regular Stripchat and StripchatVR are separate recording entries. This guide covers the regular stream and assumes permission from the broadcaster.

Add the right username

Install the current release from CaptureGem for Windows, macOS, or Linux. In the Record tab, select Stripchat in the Add Stream panel. Enter the room username in Enter URL or Username. Keep any partner suffix attached to the username, including a suffix beginning with @; it can be part of the identifier the app needs.

Leave Monitor Only off to save video, then click Add Stream while the public stream is live. A pasted room link can also identify the entry, but selecting the site and entering the username makes it easy to check what you added.

Read status before changing settings

A working capture shows Recording. Offline can mean the broadcaster is offline or idle; Private means the available session is not a public stream. Hover over an Errored status for its explanation. If a duplicate-username warning appears, check whether a renamed room already exists in your list before adding another entry.

Update CaptureGem when regional links or quality selection behave unexpectedly. For a connection problem, first check whether the stream is available in your normal browser from the same location. A recorder cannot provide a stream that your account or location cannot access.

Control file size without guessing the quality

CaptureGem uses the best stream quality available within its settings. To reduce bandwidth and storage, look under Settings → Advanced Settings → Max Resolution Per Site and adjust Stripchat's limit. The source determines which qualities actually exist; choosing a higher limit cannot create detail the broadcaster did not send.

For VR, choose StripchatVR explicitly. A regular Stripchat entry records the flat stream, even when the broadcaster also offers VR.

Find the finished recording

Let conversion finish after a session ends. Use Review to play the file or Open Video Folder to locate it. MP4 is the default container. Check a short sample for picture, sound, and timing before planning long sessions.

The free version currently saves up to five minutes per recording and allows ten added models. Premium removes those limits and adds auto-record. On a selected entry, Actions → Modify Auto Record → Record Always enables recording when a public stream becomes available. Keep the desktop app open and leave adequate free disk space.
