Hi Splinterheads, I hope this post finds you well and are having a great gaming day! Well, the day has come: I have won my first brawl battle with three gladiators! I have had the opportunity to brawl with two or three Gladiators a couple of times before, but they were losses and the lineups were messy, because I tried to force Gladiators into unsuitable battle strategies. This time it worked and moreover, I was able to field one of my favourite Gladiators: CAPTAIN KATIE.
When you want to play with three gladiators, you need 3 things: a brawl, a conscript summoner and the Are You Not Entertained? ruleset.

I am very excited to share this battle with you today, because I am a huge brawl and Gladiator fan, Gladiators are hard to come by and the Are You Not Entertained? ruleset doesn’t come up often in brawls.
The battle in question has two rulesets: Are you Not Entertained? and Holy Protection. The mana cap is 27 and the available splinters are Life and Dragon.
I have been brawling for almost a year, so I am fortunate to have accumulated a nice overall set of gladiator cards for my brawls, and since recently, for ranked battles.
The Life Gladiators available to me are a little limited, as I still don't have the Life Legendary and 27 mana didn't give me much room to move, considering, that the conscript summoners come at a cost of 6 mana.

Here is my lineup for this battle:
FRANZ RUFFMANE is leading the pack. I appreciate Franz for the extra shield, which is very helpful in this battle, because it gives my little darlings extra protection additionally to the Holy Protection. I currently have him at level three and am patiently waiting to accumulate more conscript summoners for all the splinters, so that I can confidently play silver frays in future brawls.
PELACOR CONJURER is a nifty and versatile little card. He plays an important role here today to take position in front of the reach monster to follow. With not so much mana to work with, he is a perfect pick at 2 mana. At level 1 he has 3 speed and flying, giving him ample probability to get missed at least once during the first round. I consider this dude one of the best low level reward cards in the game. At higher levels, the PELACOR CONJURER has tons of speed, Magic Reflect and Holy Protection, making a force to be reckoned with.
Enter Gladiator 1: MARISOL CONTUMA. This guy has loaded stats, making him a brick wall that cannot be gotten past so easily. With 5 speed, he attacks early with 4 melee, giving the opposition tank one hell of a headache early in the piece. He is costly at 9 mana, but is worth it, due to his carnage capabilities, especially when he makes an early kill. His stats give him plenty of power to get a scalp and then take over the show.
Enter Gladiator 2: CAPTAIN KATIE. This lady is super powerful with 3 magic snipe. If you have read my past posts, you will know, that I highly value the snipe ability and rarely fight without a sniper in the team. I have lost so many battles with monsters attacking only the first position, that I learned a long time ago to include stealth in my lineups. Shooting past the frontline, CAPTAIN KATIE is successful more often than not in finding a victim to bloodlust on.
And here is the third Gladiator, AJAX LIGHTFOOT. I must admit, that I don't focus much on Gladiators, who don't have other abilities beyond the standard Bloodlust. Nevertheless, AJAX has 6 speed, meaning he will most likely attack first. In a Holy Protection ruleset, this comes in very very handy. He takes last position as ranger and comes with good anti-sneak stats.
ROUND 1
First of all, it was great to see these three gladiators roll out together in a fight. I was bursting with confidence, when I saw 3 gladiators against 1, not underestimating standard cards, of course. From past battles, I knew, that when 2 KATIEs meet in a fight, there is only room for 1, so that was going to be interesting.
AJAX and MARISOL toasted the Chicken with the first 2 shots, bringing an immediate Bloodlust. My KATIE then took 2 hits, exposing her to a second deadly snipe attack to come in the next round.
ROUND 2
As expected, KATIE killed KATIE in the second round, which was a bother, especially, when MARISOL missed his target. PELACOR CONJURER stood firm.
ROUND 3
During the third round, the AJAX/MARISOL combo assault got rid of the Luminous Eagle in a flash, wrecking my opponent's frontline defenses and giving MARISOL a second Bloodlust. It looked pretty good from here. PELACOR CONJURER still stood firm.
ROUND 4
This time it was AJAX's turn to score a Bloodlust after wiping out the Fiend. There was nothing dramatic otherwise.
ROUND 5
Round 5 was a repeat of round 4 with AJAX striking first and scoring his second Bloodlust by killing Creeping Ooze. PELACOR CONJURER finally died at the hands of the opponent's KATIE, giving her her second Bloodlust... but it was too late.
ROUND 6
Round 6 was the beginning of the end. The opposing KATIE had to go and it took 3 more hits to finish off the opposition during the next 2 rounds without any resistance, due to the overwhelming speed of my 2 remaining Gladiators. Great fight!
Fighting with multiple Gladiators in battles is new to the game and is great fun. It makes the outcome more unpredictable. Getting more than one or two Bloodlust boosts doesn't automatically make a gladiator invincible. In this battle we saw, that the opponent's KATIE got beefed up with Bloodlust before mine did and went down much later but still lost the battle. It also comes down to chance but more importantly, fighting with multiple Gladiators requires new strategies. I am looking forward to developing these strategies and showing you more battles such as this one in the future.
