Personally, I am horrible at doing hair, all I do is brush lots and slap on a headband and off she goes. Mom is the hair stylist in the house and the little one is starting to style her hair herself.

I do think you need to give yourself more credit. Kids have no filter at this age, they just say what comes to mind most of the time. It's adults who take those words through their years of "experience" and perceive it differently. Remember, she doesn't need you to be perfect, she just needs you to be there, physically and mentally as well and the rest will fall into place.
