One of the downsides of leaving the outside light at the back of the house on at night is that it attracts all sorts of bugs. We leave it on so the light shines into the bathrooms late at night for the kids to see where they're going, and in case we need to let the dogs out when nature calls.

The nice part of leaving the light on is that in the mornings we sometimes get a visitor other than the ugly black spiders. Like this Praying Mantis:

These are the coolest of the cool!! This big mamma was on the prowl, catching the little bugs around the house. It wasn't too happy about me shoving my camera in its face though. She was tracking my every move!

At least this is one thing here in Australia which doesn't try to kill us humans. They're pretty viscous towards each other though, with the poor male getting its head bitten off after mating. Talk about cruel!!

I kinda like having these hanging around, cleaning up the riff-raff out the back for me, and their little babies are just the cutest little aliens you'll ever see... They occasionally get into the house and fly around, which Mrs MJ does not do well with, but I get to catch the little rascals and send them out again, which is quite fun.

I should probably clean up those cobwebs too!!!
