Preparing for the Worst

Hello! happy Sunday dear hiver friends. I hope everyone will be safe as an impending typhoon is about to hit the northern part of the Philippines. To my dear kababayans in Luzon I am praying for your safety and protection. 🙏

The weather here in our province is not as good. We had heavy rain last night though the sun did come out this morning.

At near noontime, wind started to blow and dark clouds were formed at the northern part of the sky. The strong wind was also blowing to that direction. It was weird and quite dreadful knowing that there is an impending supertyphoon in Luzon.

But it did not rain just yet as I expected. The sun came out once again teasing me for being too quick to keep my clothes hanged outside afraid that rain would damp them.
Well, it's better to be prepared no matter what than be incautious because nowadays the weather is so unpredictable. Even the slightest weather disturbance could hurt you. What more during a typhoon. So I gathered a few tips on how to prepare when there is a coming typhoon.

What to Prepare

Food- should be secured in a place where water cannot get in like putting it inside a big plastic box or big drums
Water- Fill all water containers and stock at least a week worth of water supply both drinking and for other uses.
Cash- when electricity and internet connection are shutdown, everything will seem to stop. There won't be Automatic Teller Machines operational and financial institutions would take time to be operational again.
Full charged cellphones and powerbanks, candles and rechargeable and solar lights - these will be very useful to light up the dark nights when there is a blackout for days.
Medicines and first aid kits

What to Do Before and During Typhoon

Prepare the basic things needed ( mentioned above)
Prune branches and leaves of trees near your house or get a permit from DENR to cut those trees that might fall into your house.
Find a safer place or house or stay in an evacuation center if needed.
Do not be hard headed and follow authorities warning and protocols
During typhoon, open your windows and doors. Glass windows will break if left closed due to pressure. Stay away from glass windows to avoid getting hurt if it breaks.
Stay calm and don't panic. Pray. There is nothing more powerful than prayers.
