Which is the most difficult season of the year for you?. Why is it difficult, and what do you do to make it bearable?.
Harmattan season is the worst season in Nigeria, it's the worst and mostly unbearable in the northern part of Nigeria
Really, we are in one of the driest temperate zones of the world, I mean, the northern part of Nigeria.
Nigeria is closer to Sahara desert, the driest of all the deserts of the world. In this very place, you will Walk miles without seeing any pond or pool of water or a very lively tree, the people living closer to the Sahara desert do suffer from lack of rain fall in some months of the year, their farm lands are basically very dried and crops planting and yieldings are mostly done by irrigation from a very far distance little water pond or stream that could also get dried at will.
Rainfall is very scanty in some parts of the northern Nigeria, it's a known and an established facts of life over there.
In Nigeria my country, we have basically two seasons of weather conditions in the year.... Dry season and Rainy season.
Although there are these two other weather conditions that are very short in existence but are part of our weather conditions....
*"like the August break and this very harmattan season I want to be focusing on here in this post"
This is how the ground looks like in some parts the northern part of Nigeria during the harmattan season, even the people do suffer extremely bad because of the terrible dust flying through the wind, air and breeze around the area. The wind at this time is very harsh, very disturbing, causing carhter, cough, running nose, driness of your skin, redness in their eyes, it can as well cause a total blindness to some people because of the dust flying into people's eyes at will, people will be covering their noses everywhere they're.
These two in between weather conditions come within the major seasons we already have. August break comes in the month of August but briefly like in one or two week's time within the very month of August yearly.
While the rain continues almost immediately till the concluding time of November in the same year, then harmattan season takes over and Cross over to the in coming year for farming services and for farmers to have fruitful harvests in the coming year.
Harmattan season comes up from the month of November every year to March the next coming year typically for easy clearing of the thick bushes by farmers and getting the bushes ready for the subsequent farming season which are always the most important and necessary part for serious farmers and for farming services and seasons.
"Why is it difficult and what do you do to make it bearable?"
This season of harmattan is very hard and has an unbearable situation as you can see how dried the ground looks and how the citizens of that part of Nigeria look like. Though this is not the region I came from, but this is how much such people and the state suffer during this yearly visitor... Harmattan.
The people do suffer from extreme driness of cough, Carhter, redness of the eyes, driness of the skin. You may not even feel comfortable at all, the ground will not produce any reasonable crops because there's no rain fall that seems to be available there for farmers and for the generality of the citizens. Many people are not very stable during this harmattan season in the north.
"What do you do to make it bearable?"
I normally wear thicker clothes, covering my self very well. The most amazing and reliable cream to apply to my skin at this harmattan season is the blue seal Vaseline cream, it suits my skin and makes my skin to shine instead of looking dull during the harmattan season although harmattan wind and harshness is very mild in my area, the South Eastern Shores of my country, Nigeria.
This is how I go through harmattan season, although it's not very terrible in my part of the region... The Eastern region of Nigeria, there's harmattan season here but not to the extreme of this other regions like the northern part of Nigeria.
Thank you for reading through my blog post, I appreciate your efforts. Keep coming again and again.
