I often don't manage to finish a blog as I initially intended, either because there are too many unused photos or because I have to suddenly stop working.
I always write at the end that I will continue the topic, but I rarely manage to keep my word.
About four days ago I wrote about my favorite seaside spot, Balchik. Because the photos are primarily in this community, I told and especially showed how I found a shortcut between the city and the beach, an old staircase...
At some point I realized that I had prepared too many photos, which would have made my post boring, so I ended with this promise:
"I still have photos of another descent to the beach, and I can't wait to share them with you. Soon!"
If you don't believe me then you can check here: Top To Bottom And Back
Well, I can say that "soon becomes now".
When soon became now.
I witnessed a short amateur photo shoot at the bottom of the stairs.
I told how some old stairs, hidden in the vegetation, helped us get from the hotel to the beach much faster.
On this short Black Sea vacation in Bulgaria, in my favorite resort, Balchik, I was accompanied by my wife and a good friend. Thus I had, besides the seascape, the opportunity to photograph people (up close, but mostly from behind).
This route was done twice, in the morning and the afternoon. In the previous post, it was about going down the stairs in the morning, now I will show what happened in the afternoon.
These places and hills were developed starting in the 1920s when the region was part of the Kingdom of Romania. First came the painters and then the rich, who built holiday villas here, following Queen Maria, who bought a vast estate where she built a small castle and laid out superb gardens.
I met again the cat that rules the ladder.
We see each other every time we pass by.
Sometimes the descent seems hard and another times very easy. This time was "another time"!
We quickly reached the plateau that separates two realities. On the ugly left, is a group of abandoned and dilapidated villas.
On the right side other villas, recently built, beautiful and elegant.
We are almost at the bottom of the stairs and can see the sea.
Something else caught our attention before we reached the sea...
A short amateur photoshoot
A lady taking a phone picture of a child, probably her child, but that doesn't matter. She was also interested in the landscape with those decaying mansions, a good subject for photography
I took advantage of the fact that the lady was too busy to take the best photo and she didn't notice me photographing her.
It was a great pleasure to see this scene, I still look at these images now, a few months after this event, with great emotion.
I am glad that my opinion is true that, beyond many inconveniences, the smartphone is changing our lives and habits, now all people can become photographers in the easiest way possible.
After just a few steps we are at the seashore and follow the evening walk.
But first, we look around, at the sea and the people.
The night is drawing in, we are getting lonelier...
We return to the hotel, but we don't climb the stairs anymore. We take a little detour, on more secluded streets.
I used all the photos prepared for this topic and now I know will be no continuation of this story.
And yet, I forgot a photo...
It is one of the many carved stones on the seashore. We resembled those figures holding hands and dancing, of course, in our youth, when we were much more slender!
I rely mostly on photos in all my blogs. Words don't help me as much as photos.
I always start with photos when I want to write a blog. Photos remind me of places, events, and feelings that turn into words. When I post in Photography Lovers the words have even less importance, they are a companion to the photos I want to show. This often makes the story uninteresting or common, yet it is necessary; otherwise, the photos would merely be a series of unexciting images.
I make this statement as a plea to those reading not to over-judge the text and to focus on the photos.
A wise saying goes that a photograph is worth a thousand words, but I don't think so.
It depends on the viewer.
I'm watching you!!
