We still live in strange times if a simple walk in a park can be "sublime". Actually not the walk itself, a certain part and occurrence of it.
Many of the normal habits and happenings on days of rest are no more. I don't get to see friends and relatives, I don't go to shows, I don't go on weekend trips and I stop there, I don't want to look for more that I no longer do.
In my bio it says that I am a "pessimist who likes optimism"! Yes, my life is between the two extremes...
The pessimist in me tells me that my life will be different from now on, everything that has been happening in the world lately seems to show that we are heading for a dark age when many of the hard-won advantages of civilization will be lost.
The optimist in me tells me that this difficult situation we're going through (I'm talking about pandemics, political changes, and environmental and humanitarian crises) will really pass soon. ( the pessimist is laughing out loud now...). I prefer to remain optimistic and hope that I will make it to the end!
As for this Sunday, it was again superb. Weather-wise, clear skies, an almost warm temperature, and lovely light over the stunning views from the parks. Parks, those little pieces of nature in the city, because real nature is harder to get to now.
Whenever I have the chance I visit a small park that reminds me of a London park, a park that was also an important character in M.Antonioni's cinematic masterpiece called Blow-up! A park called Maryon Park, as @dswigle told me. I wonder if
@c0ff33a, who is the only Englishman I know here, has heard of this park or if he has been there.
My park is in Bucharest and is called Circus Park.
This park is famous because the pond in the middle of it is filled with Egyptian lotuses.
That's why I used to visit it regularly and then I noticed the resemblance to Maryon Park. Until today I had two reasons but now I have found a third reason to love this park. The birds that live near the pond!
I saw so many birds, especially wild ducks, and pigeons. Of course, I've seen them before but never so many and so lively. Always on the move. It was obvious they were enjoying the last warm days of this autumn.
In fact, all these creatures were waiting for something... Food! The pleasure of children feeding the birds.
The moment someone starts throwing food to the birds, they appear from all sides. It is clear that they are used to receiving this food and that their main activity is to wait for someone to come along and start sharing the seeds.
This is the first time I've been this close to where the birds are happy. They are so preoccupied and agitated to find more food that they almost completely ignore the people around them. This way I can photograph up close.
There is a competition, the competition dictated by hunger. So every bird tries to eat as much as possible and fights for it!
Obviously there comes an end and the birds retreat, the pigeons in the trees and the ducks in the pond. They go to rest after all the excitement. They know that soon someone will come to bring more food. That's how it happens on Sundays. That's why their Sundays are beautiful and even sublime!
It's not quite over because the crows are next. They stood aside but probably got bored waiting for the other birds to leave. So now they're laying down the law!
I spent a long time watching these winged beings. I love birds, I even envy them for their ability to fly. Even if I'm afraid of heights. I know I'll never be able to fly so I can say I'm sorry.
The hedgerows, the birds, the flowers are important to this park. For me, the park also means a nostagia of youth, because it reminds me of Blow-up.
Probably the last beautiful autumn days. Normally the rains should come and then... snow. That's why I set a goal. To enjoy every sunny day that autumn has to offer!
