Going to Ground
...It's time to plant outside!
In my Fabric Grown Bag Containers, I mix 1/3 part soil, I mix 1/3 Peat moss, and 1/3 compost. THOROUGHLY mix this and add in a handful of Espoma Garden-Tone® Fertilizer. On the bottom of each Grow Bag, I fill with some twigs and sticks for bulk and mulch. Then I fill each bag with that soil/peat/compost mix.
Above: In each Bag, I make a deep hole, for the Onion root.
Below: Tease the Onion separate from the rest, and hold the onion crown at the level of the soil of the bag., Then back fill to bury the root.
Above: The Onion are packed and overseeded in their seed cells. Pulling them apart for planting is easy, with patience.
Below: the herb planters are filled and ready for planting.
I will plant 3 kinds of Lettuce, 2 kinds of spinach, 2 kinds of Arugula
and my herbs: 2 kinds Oregano, 3 kinds basil,
rosemary, thyme, tarragon, and more.
Above: Celery and Oregano, are ready for PLANTING!
Perhaps as early as tomorrow.
Looking ahead, there's plenty to get accomplished this week alone! He's a short list of some important tasks:
- Plant the 1st lettuce, Arugula, and spinach containers.
- Transplant Herbs
- Finish adding soil to the Pepper Grow Bags
- Finish adding soil and compost for the Grow Bags for Tomato, Squash, and Cucumbers.
