As someone who was an ardent fan of WWE in the 90s, I was wondering how much has changed since then. I believe I grew up at a time where the WWE was slowly getting more globalised. I haven't watched it in the 2 decades since, so I'm sure lots have changed since then. It's literally an entire different generation now.
Even the wrestlers are mostly unknown to me, although there're still quite a few familiar face. Who'd have thought back then that The Rock would become a bona fide Hollywood A-lister?
I would think that the most obvious change would be the production values and presentation. The 90s seemed to have a more raw and gritty feel to everything. Obviously technology has progressed by leaps and bounds since back then too. So that means the set designs, production, video quality is definitely much improved too.
I can't tell for sure if I am right, since my experiences with the current standards of WWE are at best confined to the extremely infrequent occasions when a random WWE trailer or advertisement would pass by me. But those things which I mentioned are what stands out to me.
What do you think? How has Wrestling changed since the 90s?
