All of the prep work that we’ve been working towards the past 6 plus months at our shop, is now finally paying off. It’s back issue time at Conquest Comics, and we have about 800 long boxes of deliciousness to rummage through and sort.
Sounds daunting, and it most certainly is…but it’s also an exciting time as we are finding gems left and right. Key issues, first appearances, sweet variants…and just regular filler in our depleted back issues out front. These are an example of our back issues on the floor. Notice the large gaping holes in each box?!? Those should be full…
The big obstacle was the fact that we just have too much stuff in too little a space. Don’t get me wrong, our shop is large and we have a healthy sized back room…but it just simply isn’t large enough for us to do all of the projects we want to do, while having backstock and doubles somewhat accessible.
So we gutted the room completely in the summer…myself, my son @drdoggo420, and my guy
@jgiambi. It took us 3 days to gut and rebuild, but it was much more organized and efficient. Since then it’s been just little projects and organization…until we made enough room to finally start digging through the abyss of goodies that sat dormant for years.
What we are doing now is sorting through the boxes in the back so we can restock the front. We currently have all books separated Marvel/DC/Independents, and the big M is our first focus. We are pulling all titles beginning A-E for Marvel. Then we will put it all in order and I’ll start the blending process with the books out front.
I’ll have to look up every single title as there are so many surprise books fetching large sums of moolah these days. Along with the back issue restock, I’ll also be pulling a world of dollar books, sets for our set boxes, and delicious and fancy wall books.
Speaking of wall books…the gems we are finding so far will knock any collectors superhero socks off!!! I’ll be doing a post on those shortly…
Ok folks, back to work. Thanks for popping by. Be sure to stay tuned to see the stacks of yum we are pulling so far…
