Cats and dog fun Interaction

My family's house was quite spacious, and we usually visited it every December. However, each time we came, we were confronted with numerous rats of different species that had bred and matured. Their constant scurrying around the house resembled the activities of humans in different rooms. As a result, we started bringing our cats from the city whenever we visited.

One December, which holds a memorable place in our hearts, we returned to our big house with my sister and her newly wedded husband to spend the holidays. Accompanying my sister was her dog. When we arrived at the compound, we were greeted by overgrown grass and weeds. It took us two days, with the help of hired laborers, to clear and clean the compound and interior. However, the rats remained the last hurdle to overcome in our battle against the infestation.

Furthermore, this time, both the cats and my sister's dog were in the house. Although my dad never liked dogs because they could defecate anywhere, this particular dog was well groomed and had a designated spot for its business. The dog's endearing nature, friendliness, and loyalty started winning over everyone's hearts. On one occasion, my mother remarked to my elder sister, Anita, "So you groom dogs like this? All this time you were with us before you got married, and you never thought to groom a dog in our house?" Anita replied, "Mum, you know that dad never liked dogs." Meanwhile, my dad observed the playful and fun interactions between our two cats and my sister's dog. He turned to my elder sister and said, "It was my friend Osita who made me dislike dogs. We used to work together, and whenever we returned home, his dogs would defecate everywhere in the compound."

Moreover, as we were chatting together, one of the cats caught and killed a large rat. It carried the prey in its mouth, preparing to enjoy it elsewhere. As soon as the other cat noticed, it quickly dashed towards its feline companion. Then the dog's tongue wagged, and it started salivating due to the sight of the killed rat. It began barking, and from that moment onward, the dog and the cats became a formidable rat-hunting trio. Although the cats were more successful in killing rats, the dog joined in the pursuit.

There was an instance where one of the cats stealthily approached a long table in our hallway. Although I heard a slight noise near the table, I entered a room to place an item there. Before I could exit, the cat had already seized a rat in its mouth. It amazed me how the cat initially displayed calmness and deception before swiftly catching its prey.

Despite their gentle appearance, the two cats were always curious and watchful for their prey. They proved to be intelligent in their strategies for capturing their targets. On the other hand, the dog always played with our children and sought affection from every member of the household. While the cats occasionally displayed friendliness, they were not always present. My dad asked my elder sister's husband, "Will you take your dog, Godswill, back with you?" He replied, "Daddy, it won't be easy with the dog because it will miss us."

On the day my elder sister and her husband departed, it seemed as though the cats and the dog sensed their impending departure. They played without any inhibitions. As soon as my sister and her husband got into their car with the dog, the two cats lay calmly on the pavement, observing as the car drove away. The dog wagged its tongue, looked back, and barked, as if it already missed us and the cats. Once they were gone, my father remarked, "Does it mean the dog misses us, and the cats? In fact, the entire environment was electrified by the emotions from the family members, which were stirred up by these animals."
My mom looked at my dad, shook her head in wonder , and said, "This is incredible."
