Grandmother's foreign food rejection
My grandmother was 75 years old when her children decided to take her on a tour around the world. Her children live in different parts of the world, including Asia, a Northern African country, Europe, and America. Within a span of six months, three of her daughters and two of her sons had babies. As a result, the children agreed that she should visit each of them and help with babysitting for the newborns.
When she was ready to travel, she prepared all her traditional food ingredients for the journey. However, upon arriving at the airport in the foreign country she flew to, the immigration officers rejected all those ingredients. This left her upset and worried about how she would eat, as she had never eaten foreign food before. She pleaded with the officers, asking them to let her keep her food. One of the immigration officers explained, "Madam, we are required to follow the instructions given to us by the authorities." Disappointed, she complained to her children, who had just arrived to receive her at the airport, asking them to intervene and request that her food be allowed. Their response was, "Mama, whatever they say here is final." With no other choice, she had to adapt to the global cuisine.
