It is finally getting real when yesterday Genesis League announced that it's Beta access is starting next Tuesday on the 18th July which came as a pleasant surprise for the Genesis League Community who have been waiting for this moment for quite a while. I have to say I am a little excited by this as the hard launch will be planned in for the end of July. Anybody that purchased 100 packs off the Genesis League website will be allowed Beta access. I purchased around 20 packs myself and then around 30 packs off Hive engine for a considerably lower price. It means I will not get Beta access but I am happy to wait for a couple of more weeks when there will be more additions to the game such as substitutions. Marketing is starting with some MLS players already promoting the product.
At the moment I am busy accumulating as many GLX as I can before the launch as the ROI is for staking is still over 70% and GLX is currently just over a cent being at just $0.06 just last week. But news is filtering through and GLX is rising again before the game launch which is nice to see. There is also still 120 days of SPS staking rewards on top of this and as soon as this ends we will see the GLX token increase even further.
I am surprised given the success of Splinterlands that this game is not hot property at the moment among the Hive community. There were 6 people at one stage in the town hall. Genesis League is the same team as Splinterlands and you can argue that football is a much more marketable product and game than Splinterlands so in theory if this goes main stream we could have a game on the Hive engine that gets popular worldwide. If American football works out then who is to say that the Premiership is not next or the lucrative NFL.

Maybe it's me with my football fan hat on but it seems Splinterlands users think going into sports trading cards is a terrible idea but I am of the opposite opinion. The user base in world football is huge compared to the Dungeons and Dragons genre. The video game FIFA already proved there is a market for pack openings on a large scale. EA sport make their money on the pack openings after FIFA is launched. Packs are rumoured to be even more lucrative than the profits from the game itself. So I predict it could be popular. I was out on the my greeb recently and I saw 4 children around a sticker book and they were trading cards. Trading cards in football has always been around. Digitalise it and you have got something. This is right under our noses people. On Hive!!! So anyone posting about Hive reaching $10, this and that should be looking at the likes of Genesis League because these games are the only chance that it will get there and it just seems right now to be fallen through the cracks.
But when I look at when Splinterlands was released it was the same. Nobody posted much about it . They had to give away packs for people to play it and then lone and behold we now have Splinterlands millionaires. Who will be the first GLX millionaire I wonder?? I is nice to dream but because I love football this game is right up my street so it is easy to invest in it. I am going to start concentrating on my deck again soon
