Alright now I talked about running AI on a phone before and even released my own app that lets you run an AI model on your phone and expose an API so that the AI can be used programmatically or even serve up to another device.
The quality leaves much to be desired but it takes too long to make it in any bigger resolution on my phone 🤣
Well some other folks put out another app called off grid AI, it lets you run a bunch of models right on a phone even image models!
Now these are not going to be the greatest models and also you are going to need a nice phone to run them I have a pixel 9 fold a bit older now but still can run a bunch of the models just a lot slower then new phones with better local AI capabilities.
Anyway I gave it a go, I wanted it to make some art for this post...
To be fair I have the same experience with frontier models ,where I ask for a prompt and they give me the image instead. besides that about 2 minutes for that trash image 🤣
I made this clear and this time it delivered the prompt... however they really missed the mark and leave much to be desired but then again these are really small models so their intelligence is also less impressive.
But hey you don't need the internet and the data stays on your phone, also the app is free but they also have a paid tier to unlock more features making the app more of a powerhouse .
Honestly I am not really going to be using this very much, I can just tap into my server from my phone or any computer... assuming I got internet 🤣 but it can still be useful in some use cases and if you got a really new phone it may be able to be a lot more useful with better speeds and maybe even loading bigger smarter models.
My inleo subs can have something like 1080 version with sounds included made! and much more for only 5 HBD!
