Good day to you all on this beautiful day, I hope you are all doing great, it is another creative day for me to share with you this simple and useful craft idea made from scrap fabric, it is a simple coaster for my personal use.
You can have your coaster made from different types of material to prevent the surface of your table or any surface underneath where the coaster is being placed and also to protect the surface form heat or condensation. As a seamstress who wants get rid of most of her scrap fabric and also needed a coaster for herself, I decided to use some of these little piece of fabric to make a fabric coaster for myself with a beautiful design and lovely outcome.
First step was to draft out a pattern for my choice of coaster to make, I drew a circle with the diameter of 10 inches on a brown paper
The circle was folded in two at the middle and it was divided into 3 parts
I folded in the parts that were divided in 3 to have a cone shape
The pattern was placed on 6 different fabrics from my scrap and I cut out the cone shape on the 6 pieces of fabric
I placed two of the fabrics together and it was taken to my sewing machine where I sew them together
I placed all the pieces together and they were sewn one after the other until I have a complete circle which was used to cut out a lining of same shape
The lining was placed on the right side of the circle fabric and it was sewn round leaving an opening where it can be turned to the right side
It was turned to the right side after sewing, ironed and neatly top stitched round
To cover the rough part at the middle, I cut out a small circle of 3 inches from a plain fabric
I use my hand needle and thread to run a long stitch round it and it was gathered together
With the use of my B-6000 glue, I placed the small gathered piece at the middle to cover the rough part.
This is the final and beautiful outcome, I hope you like how I put my scrap fabric in to good use with my plate on it
