I’ve just completed my 69th lap around the sun. Hopefully I have a few more laps left in me, but the very nature of surviving 69 years gives me the right, in fact, the obligation to let you all know my views on things. Arrogance is a relative term.
Baseball has returned to the US. There are box scores to look at this morning. It doesn’t make things normal, it doesn’t signal the return to normalcy, it’s just baseball scores. For me, it’s a step towards taking life back. No more, no less.
Who would have thought that the Seattle Mariners would be playing for the division lead on the 24th of July? Maybe we do live in the age of miracles!

I have family. Boy do I have family. I’m +8 in the sibling department since the first of the year.
There is the brother and sister I was raised with, and my birth mother’s three children. On Monday I got the notice that 23 and Me had identified a half brother. My father’s son. We’ve made contact and I now have 5 more siblings that I’ve never met. My life circle might not be closed but it is certainly closer by a significant magnitude than it was just a week ago.
Turns out I knew the man. Who knew? I’m sure he had no more idea than I did. I will write more about this development once I’ve processed it.

I remember stuff this day, I can’t help it.
I remember when we got TV. 1954
I don’t remember the first electronic computer, but I predate it. I bought my first PC in 1980, before most of you reading this were born.
I remember the start of the age of jet aircraft.
I remember the Moon landings.
I remember JFK and Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King as living, breathing humans.
I have seen Peggy Flemming and Katerina Witt skate.
Good Times, Bad Times, you know I’ve Had My Share

I’ve lived a life. Was it a life worth living? Sometimes.
I had my last drink in 1990. The world is at least a little bit better because I don’t drink. I’m a hell of a lot better.
Am I a sour old man, filled with poison from a lifetime? Maybe, but I’d like to think not. I’m still incredibly curious about things. Lots and lots of things.
I really have a moderately positive attitude about life and the state of things today. Yes, there is a lot of shit flying around, but I truly believe in the essential goodness of people and that it will prevail.
I believe in Hive. I think the possibilities are just simply endless here. We are so new (even if we consider Steem, which I do) that not many of us can even imagine what this will be in 5 years. Let alone 20. The Rise Of Hive! It has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?
So, I start lap 70. I wonder what it will bring. I just can’t wait to find out!
