We had a insurance loss on our house, and when it gets over a certain amount, they put the mortgage company on it. This is to protect them that they don't lose value on the house, but it is also a pain. Otherwise people would get a big check for the flood, fire, or other damage, and not fix the property. For me, who has fixed the property already, it is a giant pain to get the check back, as they don't really like to sign it off and send it back. They like to deposit it so they can earn a couple of days of interest on it. Meanwhile they had me overnight it to them and include a 10 check so I could get it back sooner. Well that was 7 days ago. Makes me feel like I just wasted 35 dollars in shipping. The flat rate for a over night was 25 dollars. That is a dinner out, and it did not make a lick of difference.
