Exploring The Pink City Jaipur - Part 2

I just realised zed that I had this post siting around in my drafts and that I had forgotten to put it up ughh 😂

In this i've clubbed 2 days of itinerary together so this will definitely be a pretty good read plus here's a quick overview of this posts itinerary that i've compiled for you guys to enjoy.

Tapri Central

Well my first stop is obviously breakfast so I decided to head out to this place called Tapri Central, the aesthetics of this place is quite different from other tea centric cafes I've been to this also had a unique shopping shopping store which had a lot of handcrafted items such as plates jute bags hand made dresses and a lot of other clothing options and all of them are quite fairly expensive. I was perusing through the stationary side and I saw this nice handmade pouch that that I knew one of my friend might really love so I picked that up for her and I even found chocolates from Paul and Mike these aren't just regular chocolates they are after some chocolates and trust me they are fucking amazing each bar cost about Rs 280 ($ 3.73) and I knew I had to pick them up for myself.

Back in to Tapri I ordered myself tea some garlic bread and vada pav also a lot of people might say for vada pav the price in the upper end because usually you get vada pav in the streets for like Rs 20 ($ 0.27) because it's basically a street food. A detailed review of this place will soon be up as well right now this miniature brief should do I suppose.

I rarely take pictures of myself and I'm so happy this one turned out to be good, pretty decent actually and I pretty much updated all my social media platform with this new profile picture.

Jantar Mantar

To start off with Jantar Mantar is part of the UNESCO world Heritage site it was commissioned in the 1724 by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur, Jantar Mantar is one of the five famously known astronomical observatories built by the very same king in Northern India. There's an entry of Rs 50 for Indian citizens and I don’t really remember how much it was for foreigners.

This place was specifically designed for the observation of astronomical positions with the naked eye (Pretty Crazy Yeah!) This entire place is part of a concept of Ptolemaic positional astronomy which was quite common in the civilisations period of that time.

Jantar Mantar mainly comprises 13 major astronomy instruments that were used and can still be used to predict the movements and timings of the planets, the sun and the moon, Also various astronomical tables and a bunch of charts were compiled so as to get an accurate idea of the celestial bodies.

The Samrat Yantra is a large sundial in Jantar Mantar which stands parallel to the earth's axis and helps to find out the time. The Jayaprakash Yantra is shaped like a hemisphere and is used to align the position of stars to markings provided there and finally the Misra Yantra is used to find out the shortest and the longest days of the year. All of these instruments have been built with brick and rubble and have been plastered with lime and have been extremely well maintained throughout the years.

Well here's fun fact it's said that Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II was so madly fascinated by the movement of the celestial bodies and therefore commissioned the construction of Jantar Mantar so that someday the distance, location and speed could be calculated.

City Palace

This place is fairly huge so it'd tae about 2 hours to cover and the entry here was about Rs 1000. You can get guides as well in this place and the offered are English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Hindi.

Also I am not sure if I mentioned this in my previous post but some of these places did not allow you to take pictures sadly city Palace is one of them you can take pictures of the buildings outside but anything inside such as the art gallery the exhibits and a lot of other things is sadly prohibited and if they catch you taking pictures they would fine you substantial amount.

Here's a fun fact about me I am quite active on Snapchat and I pretty much snap a lot so I took some risks and took a video of some of the places where photography and videography were restricted for some of my followers well that turned out to be pretty adventurous for me LOL

The entire royal family still to this date resides at the palace and that area is restricted to the visitors.

The City Palace primarily contains of various pavilions, gardens, and beautiful temples of different shapes and sizes and you have these huge gateways that provide entry to the major complex like the Tripoli also known as The Three gates, the Udai Pol and the Virendra Pol. While the latter two are basically open for public, the former one allows access only for the royal families to pass through it.

I found this nice huge mirror there and figure haan picture tho bantha hai idar 😂

Indian Contemporary art Gallery (ICA) Gallery

This place is about 3 to 4 floors and consist of a wide variety of artwork including paintings sculptures and other various unique pieces of art. Currently this place is under renovation but visitors are still allowed to pop into the gallery and from what the curator has told me is that there's an exhibition coming around March or April I guess so it would be an ideal time to visit the gallery.

All of the paintings present in this gallery are available for sale and cost upwards of Rs 3,50,000 ($ 4682.56)

Isarlat Sargasooli

This place as well an entry of Rs 50 and it's really hectic to climb to the top it's just a spiral of stairs and it feels like it's never ending you'd probably end up breathless by the time you get to the top but the view was pretty nice from up there you can check how to love you in the video provided at the start of the blog.

Isarlat Sargasooli is a 7-story high minaret and is said to be built according to principles of Rajpur and Mughal architecture. It's circular staircases are built in such a way that it ensures proper and adequate air and light in whole tower. This minaret also served as a watch tower to guard the residence of Royal family of the pink city.

Half Light Coffee Roasters

My love for coffee is never ending as I'm sure my regular readers are aware off, My day pretty much starts with coffee haha to my good fortune they were roasting a fresh batch of beans and I had my Cortado from that batch and it was heavenly. Oh and the cold brew here comes in a pretty neat looking bottle almost feels like a bottle of liquor 😂

Hand Block Printing Factory

This place wasn't exactly on my itinerary but somehow I found it on the way just exploring the area I was currently it was quite fascinating to see this takes place in front of you you could see the various workers hand printing intricate patterns onto the cloth, It's was like an assembly line where everything was done in stages.

One person applies the first pattern and another persons adds another layer onto the existing pattern. Pretty exciting right!!
