Hello, internet people. Today I want to share with you a shady and bad but entertaining movie. Since it's honestly not a particularly quality film, I'll just tell you the story (yes, it will have spoilers) and give you a general opinion.
Hola, gente de internet. Hoy quiero compartirles una película turbia y mala, pero entretenida. Dado a que sinceramente no es un película de calidad, particularmente, simplemente les relataré la historia (Sí, tendrá Spoilers) y les daré una opinión general.
Sophie and Vincent are a married couple of butchers whose business is not doing particularly well which in turn affects their marriage as Sophie is fed up with living for the day, with no ambition and subsisting. To make matters worse, a group of vegan activists attack their butcher's shop, spray-painting and throwing red paint at them. Vincent catches one and removes the mask he was wearing, but the boy's friends come back for him to rescue him. Everything gets worse when they go to the house of some friends who are in the same business but unlike them, they are doing great, they have a big mansion with a swimming pool and they love to show off.
Sophie y Vicent son un matrimonio de carniceros cuyo negocio no va especialmente bien lo que a su vez afecta su matrimonio ya que Sophie está harta de vivir el día sin ambiciones y subsistiendo. Para colmo de males, un grupo de activistas veganos atacan su carnicería, haciendo pintas y arrojándoles pintura roja. Vicent atrapa a uno y le quita la máscara que llevaba, sin embargo los amigos del muchacho vuelven por él para rescatarlo. Todo empeora cuando van a la casa de unos amigos que están en el mismo negocio, pero que a diferencia de ellos, les va de maravilla, tienen una gran mansión con piscina y les encanta presumir.
It is on the way back from this uncomfortable lunch with the couple that, in the middle of an argument (due to the envy they feel for the other couple and how bad they are), Vincent sees a cyclist who turns out to be the vegan boy who attacked his shop, so he decides to run him over in a fit of rage. They later get out of the car and find that the boy is dead. Sophie tells her husband that they must get rid of the body with a plan like the serial killers she usually sees on a crime show. They put the body on a bundle and take it to the butcher's shop where Vincent tries butchering it to make it easier to dispose of each part.
Es de vuelta de este incómodo almuerzo con la pareja, que en plena discusión (debido a la envidia que sienten por la otra pareja y lo mal que están ellos), Vicent ve a un ciclista que resulta ser el muchacho vegano que atacó su tienda, entonces decide atropellarlo en un arrebato de furia. Posteriormente se bajan del auto y comprueban que el chico está muerto. Sophie le dice a su marido que deben deshacerse del cuerpo con un plan como los asesinos seriales que ella suele ver en un programa de crimen. Suben al cuerpo al ato y lo llevan a la carnicería dónde Vincent prueba descuartizarlo para que sea más sencillo deshacerse de cada parte.
In the process, one of his ears falls off and the dog eats it, so Vincent has a brilliant idea (sarcasm intended) to sell the boy by the kilo in his butcher's shop. The next day, his wife unknowingly sells the boy's sliced ham to a customer, who soon returns for more, delighted with the taste. Once she leaves, Sophie asks him where he got the meat from, and he tells her a special pig. She doesn't believe the story and her husband ends up telling her the truth, which is how she urges him to hunt vegans to sell them in his butcher's shop as a way of saving the business and also as revenge.
En el proceso se le cae una de las orejas y el perro se la come, así que a Vincent se le ocurre una idea genial (entiéndase el sarcasmo) vender al chico por kilos en su carnicería. Al día siguiente, su mujer, sin saberlo, vende jamón tajado de muchacho a una cliente, que al poco regresa por más, encantada con el sabor. Una vez que se va, Sophie le pregunta de dónde sacó la carne, y él le dice que de un cerdo especial, ella no se cree el cuento y su esposo termina diciéndole la verdad, es así como ella le insta a cazar veganos para venderlos en su carnicería como una manera de salvar el negocio y además como venganza.
To make the hunt successful, they pose as vegans and go to restaurants and events to lure them in so they can kill them.
Para que la caza sea exitosa, se hacen pasar por veganos y van a restaurantes y eventos para atraerlos, y así poder matarlos.
The couple's son-in-law is a vegan, and upon seeing them at one of these events a few weeks later, he gets angry and complains, so all the vegans around realise that the man and his wife are impostors. In the evening, the boy goes to the house to apologise and although Sophie hints to her husband that her son-in-law would make a good ham, he saves the boy by getting him out of the house. His last hunt was for a vegan guy with a heart condition who actually died of a heart attack from the shock of Vincent's attempted attack.
El yerno de la pareja es vegano, y al verlos en uno de estos eventos, unas semanas después, se enoja y les reclama, así que todos los veganos de alrededor se dan cuenta de que el hombre ys su esposa son unos impostores. Por la noche, el muchacho va a la casa a disculparse y aunque Sophie le insinúa a su esposo que su yerno sería un buen jamón, él salva al muchacho sacándolo de la casa. Su última caza fue hacia a un tipo vegano con problemas cardíacos que realmente murió de un infarto por el susto provocado por el intento de ataque de Vincent.
The sinister couple head to their old friends' house to brag about their now affluent life, and bring them their special meat that has made them famous in the area. As they are eating, a pacemaker appears in the man's meat, and his wife insists that it is, as she knows about medical supplies. Vincent denies it and downplays it and makes snide remarks, then he and the man argue and end up in a fight where Vincent rips off the man's ear and chews it up and spits it out, telling him it tastes terrible, finally leaving the mansion with his wife.
La siniestra pareja se dirige a la casa de sus antiguos amigos para presumir de su ahora acomodada vida, y les llevan su carne especial que les ha hecho famosos en el lugar. Cuando están comiendo, en la carne del hombre aparece un marca pasos, y su esposa insiste en en que sí lo es, ya que conoce de insumos médicos. Vincent lo niega y le restarle importancia, además de hacer comentarios insidiosos, entonces él y el hombre discuten y terminan en una pelea donde Vicent le arranca la oreja al hombre y la mastica para luego escupirla, diciéndole que sabe muy mal, por último se marcha de la mansión con su esposa.
The vegans kidnap Sophie to get the truth out of her as they suspect her and her husband of having something to do with the disappearance of the vegans (a case that is already being investigated by the police) but soon Vincent arrives and saves her, however, both are arrested by the police as prime suspects in the killing of vegans because the other couple reported them. After the investigation, Sophie and Vincent are sentenced to life imprisonment and appear as serial killers on the crime show Sophie used to watch.
Los veganos secuestran a Sophie para sacarle la verdad ya que sospechan que ella y su marido tienen que ver con la desaparición de los veganos (caso que ya está siendo investigado por la policía) pero pronto llega Vincent y la salva, sin embargo, ambos son detenidos por la policía como principales sospechosos de la matanza de veganos porque la otra pareja los denunció. Luego de la investigación, Sophie y Vincent son sentenciada a cadena perpetua y aparecen como asesinos seriales en el programa de crimen que solía ver Sophie.
Crítica general / General criticism
The plot is good and although it's not that original, the execution is good. One of the things I liked the most is that at the beginning Vincent has a hard time killing, and it is logical that for someone with dormant psychopathic traits it would not be so easy to kill, since he does not lack empathy, but it is the dehumanised act of constantly killing that makes his empathy have a kind of switch that turns on or off depending on who he is dealing with. For example, he decides not to kill his son-in-law because he knows he is a good guy and his daughter loves him, when for such a psychopath it would only matter that he is a vegan to attack him.
El argumento está bueno y aunque no es tan original, la ejecución es buena. Una de las cosas que más me gustaron es que al principio a Vincent le cuesta bastante matar, y es lógico que para alguien con rasgos psicopáticos dormidos no se le haría tan sencillo matar, ya que no carece de empatía, sino que es el acto deshumanizado de matar constantemente lo que hace que su empatía tenga una especie de interruptor que se enciende o apagan dependiendo de quien se trate. Por ejemplo decide no matar a su yerno porque sabe que es un buen chico y a parte su hija lo ama, cuando para un psicópata como tal, solo importaría el hecho de ser vegano para atacarlo.
The denouement of events I think is not a big deal, but it is well put together. The cinematography of the film is simplistic as are the characters (there is no good character development and we have the "development of a couple of psychopaths" that doesn't feel like it), let's say the story and dialogue make it clear, but not the performances.
El desenlace de eventos creo que aunque no es la gran cosa, está bien constituido. La fotografía de la película es simplona al igual que los personajes (no hay un buen desarrollo planteado y tenemos el "desarrollo de un par de psicópatas" que no se siente como tal) digamos que la historia y diálogos lo dejan claro pero no así las actuaciones.
Are you looking at that hit-and-run body, right? Well, it's as if the guy had put on ketchup and thrown himself in front of the car. In an "accident" of this type there are always broken bones, I think a good idea would have been to place a hyper-realistic mannequin at a strange angle, showing the fractures, even exposed fractures, the car ran over him with both wheels! We can conclude that the special effects of this film are very bad and after watching The Walking Dead for 12 years, it made me more demanding with these things.
Están viendo ese cuerpo atropellado ¿cierto? Pues es como si el chico se hubiese puesto salsa de tomate y se hubiese tirado frente al auto. En un "accidente" de este tipo siempre hay huesos rotos, creo que un acierto hubiese sido colocar un maniquí hiperrealista en un ángulo extraño, haciendo denotar las fracturas, incluso fracturas expuestas ¡le pasó el auto por encima con las dos ruedas! Podemos concluir que los efectos especiales de esta película son malísimos y más después de ver por 12 años The Walking Dead, me hizo más exigente con estas cosas.
The film is bad but entertaining, that is to say, it is not a film that you have to pay to see in the cinema, but it is one that you can watch on TV or on the computer on a boring day when you don't know what to do. Personally I wouldn't watch it again, not even to show it to someone else.
La película es mala pero entretenida, es decir, no es una película que debas pagar en el cine para verla, pero sí es una que puedes ver en la tv o en la pc un día de aburrimiento que no sepas qué hacer. En lo personal no la volvería a ver otra vez ni para mostrársela a alguien.
