The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it.
Hello there, full-time weekenders!
Even when I consider what my lifestyle is today, there's some thing that needed to be addressed before I could start saving money. So here I want to tell you about bad spending habits I had to cut to start getting some revenue out of life.
I'm not actually going to cut anything else from what I do. I have only one expense and those music classes. My videos do enough to keep attending to it. However, I had to work on some other things to get to this point.
Snacks
These were the name of my existence. I couldn't live without them. I used to go thrice a week to the supermarket to get some snacks. Savory or sweet didn't matter. It was an act of eating my stress and feelings, so it had to be stopped.
How did I do it?
Well, I sat and read the notes for each of these purchases. It was easy since I keep the bags with the receipts. Once I added up, I saw my expenses went to up to a lot of money. I don't want to say a number because it is shameful. If I had all that money I ate, me my HBD savings would be bigger.
It's a bad thing to eat your rewards. Unless, you're a food blogger and your entries give you enough to keep going about your content.
Oh, I miss myself some snacky times. And well, I have two supermarkets very close...
It isn't like I don't by them anymore. Just that I don't go on frequently. Also, the quality of snacks seems to be going down. Maybe it's that or my palate is getting finicky!
Workshop supplies and tools
This is a tough one. I need to keep certain amount of stock for my work at the workshop. However, as I'm going on my third year of work, I've understood there's no need to have a lot of material around. Having less space for storage means keeping things simple. Buy only what you need for the job at hand.
The stock of wood is running low and I won't be renewing since it's more expensive now and it takes a lot of time to figure out how to save it.
Also, some of these supplies spoil over time. That makes it even worse to buy more than. I actually need thinking about what projects could come up.
Tools fall into the same category. This is some weird thing about working these kinds of crafts. You see the tools and you want to buy them all. Even when you see they are niche tools. I don't get to use them a lot.
But they are shinny and cool and I want them. And lo, they are expensive!
Food Deliveries
I had to face the fact the pandemic isn't what it used to be the past two years. I can afford to go to the place and buy my things. My problem with this is usually getting on a bus.
Deliveries are so cool. You can get stuff on your place. What's the bad part? Some of these services get to up to 5$. I could understand such things in big cities. However, Cumaná isn't that big. You cannot justify a 5$ delivery just for gas. Yes, proceda of gas have gone up, but are still the cheapest price in the world.
Anyhow, the lazy factor was a great one on this regard. And the other fact is the exhausting nature of going out and dealing with commute and people. COVID's biggest effect on me has been that.
Nonetheless, not asking for more deliveries has helped a lot to keep some money in my pocket. It also kinda helps with staying healthy as I'm not eating all those sugars and fats.
I don't regret all the nice things I have eating thanks to deliveries.
Have you gone through your expenses and cut out all the unnecessary things?
What are those things you have deemed unnecessary from your monthly budget?
