So, this time I'm showing off two auction lots that I won recently... I did have a weird run of winning four lots in that round... and all four of them were really great ones! These two silver ounces are really quite special ones... older Australian Kangaroo ounces, and still in their packaging as well! There were about 8 of them in the auction round, and I did bid a little bit higher than I usually do, as these were quite special ones...
... and I was quite surprised when I won two of them!
The first one was is a 1996 Kangaroo Ounce. And it is so interesting how the silver designs are so much simpler than the ones on the more modern Kangaroo ounces. I wonder if it was the older technology or if it was the switch from the Royal Australian Mint to the highly regarded Perth Mint? Or perhaps a bit of both...
... anyway, the it does make these older silver coins look a little bit dated! But still awesome cool!
And again, the only monarch to look decent on a coin!
And then moving to the year before, a 1995 silver Kangaroo ounce. This is one hilarious looking one... honestly, this design looks more like a llama to me! When I was showing the kids, they thought it looked more like a dog... or a weird bunny rabbit. Ah well, silver is silver... and I have been trying to grab some of these older Kangaroos for quite some time!
And with these ones coming in their packaging... well, that is a nice bonus!
Hmmm.. interesting, I actually read the back of this one whilst typing... reverse frosting, now that I have read about it, it does make it look cool. It does make the design stand out quite nicely... I will have to look for it more in the other silver pieces.
