Coffee to keep sleep away and shed some tears. The previous phrase seems like a tragic moment, that's why I rarely use it. But, don't be scared, it is not so literal.
I was thinking recently about the comment or belief of many people. They say that when we sleep early there is nothing to stop us. However, others think that a strong coffee or very red (black) as we say in Venezuela, can keep our eyes open for a while.
This was particularly my case the day when our national team was playing against Canada, it was impossible not to watch this long awaited game. We were just one game away from advancing to the next round, the semifinal.
If Venezuela had won, they would have faced Argentina, another dreamed and expected game!
Unfortunately, the results did not favor the Venezuelan team at that time and therefore, we were disqualified.
We felt a lot of emotion watching that game of the moment, there were many mixed feelings, a sip of coffee at the same time that an interesting game situation was taking place, I thought it scared me out of my sleep. But, was it the coffee or the adrenaline?
Anyone can deny the effect of coffee on our body, but those who experience the reaction can attest that something strange is happening. Maybe I exaggerate, it's true. Still, I want to leave an illustration of what happened when something like a soccer game gave me so much energy.
In the same way, that feeling of wanting to cry in a moment of rapture calmed down when I took another sip of coffee. It all seems like a fantastic story, but it was a broken dream, a dream that awakened many Venezuelans and made them fall into another hopeful reality.
We embraced the triumph with a taste of Venezuelan coffee.
