Reír, llorar, agradecer, o simplemente no hacer nada.
I have wondered why sometimes we do not show feelings or emotions, or is it me who feels or has this perception?
I have experienced situations where my feelings are paralyzed and my emotions seem false or mechanized. It hasn't always been this situation but still, it worries me.
I remember the first accident my son had, thank God he did not suffer major injuries but the matter was serious. He fell into an unconscious account after a heavy blow to the head. When I was given the information, I had time to get dressed and leave for the hospital, when I saw his face was bloody, a black eye and a swelling on his forehead from the contusion of the blow. At that moment I did not know what to do. Laugh, cry, say thank you, or just do nothing.
As the days went by, I was busy taking care of my son, seeing him so weak worried me, but apparently I still did not show any feelings or did not know how to identify my own emotions.
When my mother died I felt that the world was falling apart, I cried inconsolably, seeing my father destroyed was another impact, two mixed feelings for the same cause. I did not feel anger for my mother's death, I had clung to my faith, I asked God for her and his answer was immediate. I always thanked the Creator because my mother did not suffer in the face of such a strong disease as cancer.
There was a second accident with my son. I received the news when I arrived at work, I ran to the place where he was, I saw him lying on the floor, conscious, with a blow to his leg but nothing to worry about, only scratches. The accident was on a motorcycle, thank God everything went well. As for my emotions, they were silent again. I only felt concern before knowing about my son's condition, after seeing him, I didn't know what feeling moved inside me.
I feel that my problem is something like an anesthesia or emotional block. When I receive strong news, I become anxious, not knowing what to do, I spin around, grab things, release them again until I manage to move forward. I don't cry the instant I hear tragic news, I remember crying only when my mother died.
A year after my mother's death, a very dear aunt whom I cared for during her illness passed away, and I did not even want to get close to her during her agony. At the time of her death, I remained emotionally expressionless, I seemed strong but in reality, I could not express anything.
Is it possible that my mind is blocked in the face of possible grief, or perhaps I prefer to anchor positive thoughts to keep the negative ones away?
There are things I don't know how to react to. It doesn't feel good to live with this condition because I seem indifferent to things. Obviously, every problem linked to my family matters to me, hurts me and affects me. But, it is indescribable what sometimes happens to me.
I keep growing emotionally and I keep looking for the causes of specific situations in my life. The goal is to be okay with myself and the family I love and would give my life for.
