I am still in vacation, well the last weekend of it and than on Monday I am starting the work back again. And while I had plans on this vacation to achievement different things personally, but also some training to help me professions, I ended up these days just doing nothing. But while doing nothing, I feel that in the same that's production as it allows for my mental health to recover and prepare for what's coming. I am in the last months of my contract and I don't know if I will get another one with all this AI buzz around us. The IT world was hit pretty hard and myself as an automation engineer I feel the heat as well. There is also some transition to provide the automation tools to developers to include them in their pipelines and run it, thus I feel that the role is shrinking and who knows what other decisions will be taken. While I believe that I am one of the best professionals in the team, it is hard to see that things will be done according to meritocracy and there is always a subjective factor that might play into the equation.
While there is this uncertainty floating around for what will follow, for the moment I feel that sometimes doing absolutely nothing is productive. Even writing this article came hard for me at the beginning as my mind simply didn't want to think about the words that would need to be put down. But I had an impulse after lunch and I said to give it a try and simply speak about "doing nothing". 😆 I don't know if you have also moments like this, but after some periods I ended up simply standing still and wondering around or navigating blindly on the Internet, just not to do something planned. I feel that my mind simply recharges itself when I interrupt the routine and this weekend is a proof of that. Maybe stopping a routine forces the brain to create new neuronal pathways and that could be food for it as well. Otherwise I don't see any other explanation for my laziness. 😊
This weekend is quite boring for me and I don't see anything wrong with it. On Monday I will go to my brother office and I peaked that there is a new release waiting for me that I need to test and validate. Thus, if I could delay me going to the office for infinity that would be great. But as that's not realistic and because I know the intellectual effort that would be required (as I like to do my job almost to perfection), I think I will try to enjoy this weekend to the max. And not by doing tens of activities, but rather allowing my mind and body to heal before the "war" begins once again.
Doing nothing can be production as long as it brings me benefits and I feel that my current state allows me to recharge. That's it from me on this wonderful Saturday and I hope that you are experiencing a relaxing day as well, with no stress or work on your mind. See you later, maybe with more energy and mission driven. 😁
