The long-awaited relaunch of Quello, the Quora-like question-and-answer platform built on Hive, is now live and is called Reverio. If you look closely enough, you can see parts that will remind you of Quello, but @reverio is very much its own thing.
My first experience was trying to load the site. Because DNS settings were still propagating, accessing the site without the www in front meant the site would not load. This issue will probably be resolved when you read this (DNS can take a few hours to propagate).
One of the first things I noticed besides the beautiful and simplistic UI is the loading times. Maybe this is launch teething issues, but the site is quite slow to load for me. Looking in the network tab in Chrome, I can see many requests are taking upwards of one second.
It's possible that the slowness is latency related (I am in Australia) or the Hive blockchain requests themselves. It means it does take a few seconds for the site to load for me. Because there is a lack of caching (presumably), the requests take around the same time every time I refresh the page. When I audit the site, the time to interactive value is almost 7 seconds, and I am on a gigabit internet connection.
Excited to try out Reverio, I wrote some questions. That's when I encountered another issue. Once you create your question, it redirects you to the question you wrote. Except it does it too quickly, and you're redirected to a blank page. Refreshing the page loads the question. So, I am unsure if it's just redirecting before the transaction is completed on Hive.
Overall, it's a nice launch app that I will often use. It's a great way for newcomers who want to earn on Hive without writing long-form content.
Another minor issue is there is no support for Grammarly. I use Grammarly to check my spelling and grammar daily (it is invaluable). However, due to the editor being used on the site, Grammarly can't see the text editor and, therefore, cannot fix my spelling and grammar.
Perhaps I am in the minority, but when you write an answer, it says, When creating answers, remember to form your own style, add images and references wherever possible and check your grammar and spelling. I would love to see this fixed.
This might be in the works, but I think an app like this could benefit from a custom token awarded to users that contribute to the platform on top of the Hive earnings you'll get from posting and curating. A custom REV token that maybe gives you perks on the app might be something for the team to consider.
I suspect the site will have an issue with low-quality content, given it uses the Community feature on Hive, and anyone can post. It should work itself out if the team has thought ahead and can block terrible content on the site without relying on downvotes.
Another problem Reverio is going to face is people who copy and paste questions from existing sites like Quora to farm. This will be a little harder to prove as questions are not exclusive to Quora, and maybe it's not an issue. It is another way people might game the system to farm tokens, but we'll see.
I did try and look for a way to contact the Reverio team, but there are no contact details on the site, no Discord (as far as I could see) where I could notify them of some of the issues that I encountered (although, they might already be aware of them).
