( EN / DE ) Easter for me personally is not so much a religious celebration, but rather a family celebration and more in the sense of "we celebrate the end of winter and the re-blooming of nature".
In our tradition, we celebrate Easter on Saturday afternoon, usually with the whole family coming together for the so-called "Easter snack". And already when I decorate the table I have huge joy.
Ostern ist für mich persönlich weniger ein religiöses, sondern vielmehr ein Familienfest und eher ein Fest im Sinne von "wir feiern das Ende des Winters und das wieder erblühen der Natur".
In unserer Tradition feiern wie Ostern am Samstag Nachmittag, wobei zumeist die gesamte Familie zur sogenannten "Osterjause" zusammenkommt. Und schon beim Dekorieren des Tisches hab ich riesen Freude.
When 8 adults and 4 children come together, it can quickly become crowded, how helpful is a table that you can pull out.
For the Easter snack it is the same every year, there are just not so many same small plates available, so I just mix them ;-)
Wenn 8 Erwachsene und 4 Kinder zusammenkommen, kann es schnell eng werden, wie hilfreich ist da ein Tisch, den man ausziehen kann. Und für die Oster Jause (Brotzeit) ist es jedes Jahr dasselbe, es sind einfach nicht so viele gleiche kleine Teller vorhanden, also mische ich sie einfach durch ;-)
Finally came the idea to let the 4 kids eat in the living room to have more space at the table, which of course the kids liked. Well, big family and that although 3 adults and 2 children were not present today, otherwise it would have been really tight. But somehow it always works and all get a place.
Schließlich kam noch die Idee, die 4 Kids im Wohnzimmer essen zu lassen, um mehr Platz am Tisch zu haben, was den Kids natürlich gefallen hat. Naja, große Familie und das obwohl 3 Erwachsene und 2 Kinder heute gar nicht dabei waren, sonst wäre es richtig eng geworden. Aber Platz hatten wir bisher immer alle, irgendwie geht das schon.
In addition to the colorful hard-boiled Easter eggs, there of course, comes the Easter bread and the homemade Easter pinze, both a must have!
Zu den bunten hart gekochten Oster Eiern kommt natürlich das Osterbrot und die selbst gebackene Oster Pinze, die beide nicht fehlen dürfen!

The crowning glory of the meal is then a cold cuts platter with various types of Easter ham and cheese. The festive table is already set and the anticipation of the meal grows at this sight.
Die Krönung des Essens ist dann eine Aufschnittplatte mit verschiedenen Osterschinken Arten und Käse. Schon ist der Festtagstisch fertig gedeckt und die Vorfreude auf das Essen wächst bei diesem Anblick.
I really love setting the table for occasions like this, it's one of many yearly repeating rituals that just feel good to me. And then we eat together, chat and also with the in Austria obligatory coffee after dinner enjoy the absolute quality time!
Ich liebe es wirklich den Tisch für solche Gelgenheiten zu decken, das ist eines von vielen jährlich sich wiederholenden Ritualen, die mir einfach gut tun. Und dann wird gemeinsam gegessen, gequatscht und auch mit dem in Österreich obligatorischem Kaffee nach dem Essen die absolute Quality Time genossen!
That's it with Easter for this year. Normally tomorrow we would grill a lamb with family and friends, but because of the cold and rainy weather we have postponed.
Das wars dann auch schon mit Ostern für dieses Jahr. Normalerweise würden wir morgen mit Familie und Freunden ein Lamm grillen, aber wegen des kalten und regnerischen Wetters haben wir das verschoben.
Now it's quiet and I'll enjoy a little good music with tea and my Easter bouquet. Hmmmmmmm and this chocolate Easter bunny, will probably be nibbled ;-)
Jetzt ist es ruhig und ich werde noch mit Tee und meinem Osterstrauß ein wenig gute Musik geniessen. Hmmmmmmm und dieser Schoko Osterhase, der wird wohl auch noch angeknabbert werden ;-)
