Have you ever had this notion were you felt so sure of yourself that you could do something but then you come across a situation and all that you thought you could do, starts crumbling before your eyes. That was exactly what happened to me today.

I used to always think that I was tough at heart when facing certain situations, situations that some who encounter it end up puking or fainting or worse, have sleepless nights. I was very certain that I would not to any of those things when I come across such gory situations. Ha!, I thought I was a legend with a tough heart but nothing prepared me for what I experienced today.

Today was very different from other days. I woke up bursting with energy because I had a task to fulfil and that was to lead a team of women to an orphanage home in my local government area, si as to make some donations.

This is something we have been doing annually since 2022 and we have been faithful at it, giving our little cup of water to these seemingly less privileged children who are residing in orphanage homes. It has been a wonderful experience as we get to see the smiles on the faces of the kids.

Today, we decided to visit another orphanage home for children with special needs. This orphanage home catered for kids who are suffering from Cerebral palsy, *Epilepsy", Autism and Down Syndrome. I had earlier gone to make enquiries at the orphanage to
find out their rules and modus operandi and also pre-informed them that myself and my team would be visiting the orphanage on this day.

I relayed the information to my team and we got busy sourcing for the necessary items that we would be donating which covered food items, sanitary towels, adult diapers, soaps, clothes and other utilities. We were so happy contributing our quota into sourcing these items and that was when this song hit me. I was humming the song as I assembled all the items we had gotten.

Heal the world by Michael Jackson

But this was just the start, there was more to come. After organizing the items to be donated in different bags, we began the journey to the orphanage home. On arrival, the caretakers were so happy to receive us and they were so appreciative of the resources we donated as thry expressed it in words and hugs and prayers. Finally it was time to see the kids and one of the nurses led us to their hostels.

As we stepped in, these kids began to sing joyfully in their not so coherent way but it did the magic_ the magic of melting my heart, a heart I thought was tough. I had to excuse myself and step out to the balcony as I noticed that I was becoming overwhelmed with emotions and rain drops were already pouring out of my eyes. As I dried the tears I began to wonder what gave these kids the immense joy with which they faced the world. Some can't talk, some of them can't even lift a muscle but yet there was this aura of gladness about them that shook my core.

I am hale, complete and whole. I am also able to do things normally but even I am not always this happy. I grumble about the bad economic situation of my country, about the bad leadership and whatever comes to my mind. Sometimes I lose siggt of the many beautiful gifte that God has blessed me with and that is what those kids reminded me of today.

This song below is just a replica of how I feel, that I am part of those who can make a difference in the lives of those who can't help themselves. This is such a humbling experience for me and I can't help but feel what Micheal Jackson felt when he wrote this song all thode years ago.
