I'm lucky that I've not had to work in corporate environments as they don't seem like very nice places. From what I've been told by those who have, my guy for instance, they're often snake pits meaning they're full of people seeking to rise above others often by way of unscrupulous, nefarious and selfish behavior.
It reminds me of that game snakes and ladders, each person working for themselves and seeking to send the others tumbling downwards by any means; some suffer and some benefit.

Recently someone close to me exited one such situation, a global company that was not a nice place to work to put it mildly.
The money was good and the job itself brought some enjoyment and satisfaction and there were a few others at the company the person valued but in the main it was an extremely difficult, borderline toxic, and complex situation which was leaving them feeling emotionally drained, physically exhausted and generally negative about the entire situation which, of course, spills over into personal life. Fortunately the person recently moved on towards better things and there was the small boon of gaining some good relationships with work colleagues that will endure; the person is feeling quite good and positive about the decision.
Life holds good and bad aspects and moments and there's good and bad people; we, as individuals, do good and bad things too; it's inescapable but that doesn't mean we have to remain in situations that don't suit our personal ethics, morals and standards...is money a good enough reason to do so? I don't think it is and I believe a persons personal values, integrity and feeling of general wellbeing are far more important than money. Many may disagree however.
I've not worked in environments where people have engaged in snakes and ladders tactics and am happy about that and also happy that the person I mention is out of that environment as it will mean they can release the negativity it brought and begin to rediscover a better way of life.
