I've lost count of the places I've been but remember them all; fond memories that carry me away and back to those places when I think of them. Those memories are more than just thoughts though, they're a part of me, and the experiences that brought them to pass have been an integral part of my life whether good or bad.
I've mostly had lovely experiences when travelling although a few I could have done without also; those haven't been traumatic, just problematic such as delayed flights, missing flight connections, getting on the wrong train and ending up in the wrong country and reservations that didn't work out. I see it all as part of the adventure of travelling though.
My guy and I were talking about this a few days ago and he asked me to say one place in which our experience wasn't as good as we'd hoped that we'd want to return to; I didn't need to think about it long, I said, Venice, Italy, straight away.

It's not that we had a bad time, not at all in fact, just that some of the things we'd wanted to do were not possible due to inclement weather.
That's one thing people can't control and it can make a mess of a planned event or day if it's not right, but that's just another part of travelling and we take it in our stride, change plans and have different experiences instead; there's no point worrying about what we can't change. I think that is one of the things that differentiates between getting the most from a vacation and feeling disappointed; having the ability to readjust plans, find alternatives and love whatever experiences that brings.
We'd both love to go back to Venice, we have unfinished business there, and we know it will occur eventually; we hope the weather would be kinder to us this time but if not we'll work around it; either way, we will return.
