I was contemplating relaxation today and how there often doesn't seem to be enough time in the day or week to get everything done. We move from one thing to the next and self-time or relaxation is usually the casualty. Relaxation is probably many different things I suppose, and specific to each of us, but for me it can be as simple as a barefoot walk on the beach.
It's has been a little while since I've wandered aimlessly on the beach and, with relaxation in mind, I did so today with my significant other beside me.
The breeze caught my hair, flicking it this way and that, and it found its way through my loose blouse; the feel of it on my bare skin was pleasing. It wasn't hot, or cold either, it was just nice, perfect for a walk, and we shared the beach with people who quite obviously had the same idea as us; people seeking a break from the rest of their lives, time to set everything else aside and simply be.

I'm not sure about others but for me the important things in life change constantly; what they are and their level of importance shifts as I deal with each or as those circumstances come and go. We are all very unique, come from different backgrounds, financial situations, upbringings, cultures and countries, however I think one of the common threads we have is that we should all prioritise the most important things in our lives and, of course, be able to determine what those things actually are in the first place.
I'm fortunate in that I learned the benefit of doing this early on, experiencing adversity and hardship can be a great teacher; it's something I've always focused on and to this day enjoy the benefits that come with that mindset. High on my own list is self-care.

Life and its complexities can dominate a person's thoughts and actions, feelings and emotions too of course; much of that is warranted, we must all take responsibility for those things in life, however I am of the belief that each of us should place self-care on the list...if we do not take the time to care for ourselves we're unable to, or are less equipped, to take care of others and the other important aspects of life.
