An image of me

When life challenges you, where do you find the courage to stand back up and keep going?

For you see, motivation is not something we have every day.

Sometimes, we wake up ready to face whatever life brings. We have plans, energy, and the feeling that we can handle anything, but there are other days when even the simplest things feel difficult. You become tired of trying, hoping, and tired of telling yourself that everything will eventually be fine.

There are days when you just want to withdraw from everyone, be isolated and not explain how you feel.

I have experienced moments like this actually

There have been times when I felt disappointed in myself because things were not going the way I had planned. I would look at certain situations and wonder, what I'm i even doing? Sometimes, quitting seemed much easier than continuing to struggle.

But whenever I get to that point, my mind always goes back to one thing, my background and my father's sacrifices.

I remember my time in school, especially when I had to deal with Basic Statistics.

That course was not easy for me, I didn't understand it the way I wanted to.

I would study, try to understand the calculations, and still feel like I wasn't getting anywhere. There were moments when I became so frustrated that I would think, why don't I just fail this course and move on? Cause it will just drop my CGPA but not my life

At that point, I wasn't looking for motivation, I was simply tired of moving

But in all, I would remember my father

I would remember that there was a man working and sacrificing just so I could sit in that classroom and learn

There were things he could have bought for himself but didn't, there were times he had to put his own needs aside because there was something I needed.

He could deprive himself of certain comforts just to make sure I had food, clothes, school fees, and other necessities that came with school and life

He was doing his best to give me an opportunity.

And then there was me, sitting there, thinking about giving up because one course was difficult.

That thought humbled me, lol

I wasn't just studying for myself, someone had invested his sweat, time, and sacrifices into the person I was becoming.

So whenever I felt like giving up, I would tell myself, “No, I have to try again.”

That experience taught me something I still carry with me today.

Motivation can disappear, but your reason can remain.

There are still days when life feels overwhelming, days when I don't know what the next step should be, when I feel tired, disappointed, or unsure of myself.

I don't suddenly become strong because I remember my father but remembering him gives me a reason not to stop.

I remember where I am coming from, the sacrifices behind where I am today and somehow, I find the strength to take another step.

I have also learned that courage doesn't always look like being fearless or confident, it is simply being tired and still deciding to try again.

it is crying today and getting up tomorrow.

Sometimes, it is not knowing how everything will work out but refusing to believe that the difficult moment you are experiencing is the end of your story.

So, when life challenges me, I find my courage in my background, my father's sacrifices, and the people who have poured so much into seeing me move forward.

And if you are going through a difficult season, I hope you remember that you don't have to have everything figured out today.

Rest, cry if you need to, take a step back
And don't let one difficult season convince you that you have to give up completely.

Find your reason and hold onto it like I held unto mine

Because at times, when motivation disappears, your reason is what keeps you going through life
