Last week I spent a day with some very talented people. Together with a body painter I organised a group shoot in a small local hall. There were three models, three painters and we had invited four other photographers along. As I've mentioned before, group shoots are not my thing. Even though this was mainly with friends it suffered the same faults as other group shoots - people shooting over the shoulder or copping shots that you've set up. This image of the always wonderful Ellie-Mae is something that nobody else captured. We went out on the playground to get this shot.
If two heads are better than one, does the same apply for two skulls?
I really enjoy body paint shoots, the talent of some of the painters I have worked with is mind blowing. I love watching their creations come to life, see their artistry unfold. Its then a case of trying to do their work justice with the photos I take. These paints, in my opinion are all works of art. Sadly they last only a few hours until the model washes off the paint.
Louise and balloons
I have worked with Louise for years. Not only is she a fun and creative model to work with, she is also an extremely talented body painter herself. She's has been on a break for a few years after having children, and this was her first shoot since the birth of her first child. She hasn't lost it.

The paint for Louise was done by Micky, I hadn't worked with her before but just how good is she too? The three painters took around five hours each to create these masterpieces. Once the paint was done, it did turn into a bit of a free for all trying to get the shots in. The thing with group shoots is to get the shots that nobody else gets, the model surely doesn't want lots of different versions of the same shot.

Left to right we have Hayleigh, Ellie-Mae, Helen, Emma, Louise and Micky. All great fun to work with. I hope you like the images, hopefully something a little different. And the title comes from a song in the Tim Burton film The Nightmare Before Christmas. I would suggest that you check out the version by Broken Peach It's a wonderful interpretation.
