I don't know what the optimized size of training class is but I found 10-12 people were best for me personally, this allowed dividing into smaller groups for hands on training, 3 groups of 4 or paired off training.

I know people think they can do many things at once, but in a learning environment people need to maintain focus on the training, not what their latest email says.
