In may 2004 I visited Spain and Madrid.
Madrid is full of life and people, but not chaotic. Many places dedicated to artists and art, in all forms: painting, music, street graffiti, and so on.
Here Gran Via, the most famous street of Madrid. I love how people are 'duplicated' by mirror:
Many pubs in the city centre, some ones very old and with an historical value:
In may there is also an huge festival dedicated to the patron of Madrid, San Isidro:
"Isidore the Farm Labourer, also known as Isidore the Farmer (Spanish: San Isidro Labrador) (c. 1070 – May 15, 1130), was a Spanish farmworker known for his piety toward the poor and animals. He is the Catholic patron saint of farmers and of Madrid, El Gobernador, Jalisco and of La Ceiba, Honduras. His feast day is celebrated on May 15." (from Wikipedia)
Here some pictures at San Isidro musical festival, Plaza Mayor.
I see these pictures after many years, and I'm listening some recording about this musical event. We were walking towards Plaza Mayor, and there were Alan Parson project singing the wonderful song 'Don't answer me'. The music came like an echo in the distance, taking with the notes many memories about the past. It moves me listening to it and listening the music becoming louder and louder has been like a travel through old hidden remembrances... Here the song too!
And the crowd all around the place, with many beers inside the body ;-)
I tried long exposure to reproduce people walking and the caos of the crowd.
