It is the first day of the -ber months, HEEEEYYYY!!!!!
It is the 1st day of september and despite the mercury retrograde, I am doing my best to stay productive cuz no way amI gonna lose to some astrological phenomenon.
So for the entirety of the -ber months, I'm gonna try to stay as active and creative as possible. This is to really make up for my absences during mining season and cuz I feel so deprived of creativity lately. I need an outlet and skill refinement so here I am!
For the prompt I'm following on this creative journey, I started with monsters cuz they're easier to visualize plusssss I'm more familiar with monsters than with whatever prompt inktober comes with. I think it would have been better if I tried out the older inktober prompts but no! I want to draw monsters XD
Anyways, here's my rendition of Lilith, the original succubus and I do count her as a demon as do most texts do.
Materials used: Colored markers, colored pens, white jelly pen UwU
Duration: 3 hours
Well actually, it took a little longer than 3 hours cuz drying the ink layer took me some 2 hours so that happened while I was making dinner.
As you can see here, I just did random marker colors then I spread it out evenly with a wet brush. It's a nice little technique I adapted on last year's inktober attempt. One that I undoubtedly enjoy using.
Then for the initial sketch, I went straight to colors cuz dk, I've been in a rush to do more drawings to make sure I can complete this prompt. And I wanted to buy more time so I also don't feel so rushed. Idk my brain keeps contradicting itself XD
Then from the orange sketch, I worked in some yellow, red, more orange (to blend everything) then brown and black, before working on the highlights and lo and behold, 3 uncontinuous hours later, I managed to finish it and be proud of the drawing. Now I have a good feeling that this year's art challenges will be a good run!
That about sums my process for thefirst day of sketchtember.
