My friends have no clue why I have to do a hair haul every few weeks to a month. But most have processed hair and the others are not black; so...
So this is my normal shopping list.
And now the ritual & tools:
WARNING! This will be a LONG ritual. The basic ceremony consists of:
A, a special crème made specifically for the ritual and obtained from specialized magic shops who specialize in hair magic.
B, parting and detangling the hair before twisting into Bantu knots.
C, covering with a special hat for around half an hour or more.
D, cleansing the hair with a special cleaner that won't Rob the scalp of health
E, the apply LOC method to pamper and seal hair.
And Finally,
F, Style hair into an style appropriate for the weather, event, age of wearer, location of event and time of day the style is to be seen.
As a side note, if the style is for the next day, special bonnets and headrest for the night.
Yes, the non black friends by now would have just dumb founded looks on their faces. But unprocessed hair takes some time...OK A LOT of time. But it is part of the inherited memory of black folk that we are constantly rediscovering. But dear God, its time consuming so I am glad for the fact that deep condition rituals are one a month and maintenance was and styles ate only twice a week. Anything more can hurt the hair and scalp. And this stuff is expensive!
