I decided to start writing my own personal blog on steemit.

I remember clearly when i was years old i really wanted to learn how the computer works. I was really excited when i got my first computer. It was a pretty cheap machine at that time.

And ofcouruse i started to play games first like every other kid. But as the time passed by i got lots of ideas about games or changes i would like to do in some games. But i had no idea how to do it. I also had huge interest in making a website.

I started googling around about how to make websites and i ended up learning basics of HTML and CSS. I was 13 years old and i already made a couple of websites but i had no idea how to make a login system or other features that require programming. My oldest brother gave me a book of Borland C at that time and i started to read it. It was very difficult language for me at that age so i didn't actually finish it. But i got the concept of how things work around variables and stuff, but at the same time i had difficulties understanding it. It was way above a 13 year old kid's level.

My brother then gave me a PHP book and that changed my life. It was a book about how to learn php in 24 hours. And it was pretty good explaining all sorts of stuff. Variables, Arrays, Functions, Control Structures and so on.

I gained enough knowledge to move forward and i ended up reading the php documentation. Later on practicing for months i got quite good at it, and started to make my first websites using php. It was a website for a gaming community i was trying to create. I really loved it and the feeling of creating something awesome. But yes, nobody care too much about it and it ended up in the trash.

A few weeks after i presented the website to my brother, his friend wanted to create a webshop. My brother was very busy with his studies and i was 16, i had all the time between 14 and 22 pm, so he asked if i could do it. It was pretty simple. It had to simply list products, lots of products from different categories and the payment was around $100. Which was a lot for me at that time.

It was my first paid project and i was very excidet about it. I immideately got to work on it, and i a week later i got some basics of the site up and running. It took a lots of time because my coding skills were still basic and i barely knew how to do stuff, but i really loved it and i was very excited about it.

I presented the site to my brother and he found some bugs in the first minute. I felt very bad and no matter how i tried to explain it. It was quite difficult and i had to fix them. I also realized i should not present anything unless it's in a state where the users would be happy with it.
Thats what i spent on the second week. Fixing my bugs.

After this week my brother's friend come along as well and checked the website. They were happy with it. It felt great that they appriciated my work i put into it. I didn't really care about the money. It was just a hobby for me at that time.

The next 2 week i had to work on the administration part of the website. Which this time was quite more easier as i learned more and more about database & mysql in php. I also had more time to update the design of the site and get into javascript a little.

The 2 weeks was over and he come along to check the website. He was very happy there was one more step he asked me to do. Is to upload all the products. It was a huge zip file with images and txt fiels inside containing the products.

Here come my idea to why not write a code that can do this repetative task for me. I really felt super smart about it!
It all turned out great. And i made my first bucks with my new skill.

I felt pretty happy about creating somethig usefull that later on helped his bussiness.

The feeling i felt that time have never left me and it still pushes me to learn new things to be able to create new applications and makes me excited every day.

  • Thank you for reading!

Next time i will write about how i become a freelancer, how i lost all my customers and how i rebuilt it.
I'll write some code tutorials as well!
