A few days ago, I went to the market to check the price of snails. I didn’t plan to buy—I just wanted to compare how much I’d spend buying snails versus the free ones I get from the garden. I was shocked. A single big snail now costs ₦500! Though water snails are cheaper.
I remember the last time I bought snails, they were ₦200 each. In fact, you could get three for ₦500 back then. The way inflation is hitting everything is just too much. I couldn’t even cry—just kept asking, “Inflation, why?!”
Honestly, farming has saved me from this mess. For months now, I’ve been eating snails regularly, straight from the farm. I just go there and pick them myself—nobody gave me anything. But it’s totally worth it. Snails are a great source of protein and they come straight from nature.
