Mount Fuji on canvas with acrylic paint [ENG-ESP]

Hi! This is my first time posting in this community, but I hope to come around here from time to time as I also like to paint sometimes 😄.

I'm a beginner, and I do it as a hobby because it relaxes me. Also I always have a better result when I can look at something and try to reproduce it, having some image or structure as a model.

I usually buy blank canvases and paint on them. The truth is that I don't have a lot of material, and the ones I have are quite cheap, but I try to make it with what I have, to do my paints.

¡Hola! Es la primera vez que publico en esta comunidad, pero espero venir por aquí de vez en cuando ya que en ocasiones también me gusta pintar 😄.

Soy muy principiante, y lo hago por hobby porque me relaja. Además siempre tengo un mejor resultado cuando puedo fijarme en algo e intentar reproducirlo, teniendo alguna imagen o estructura como modelo.

Suelo comprarme lienzos en blanco y pintar sobre ellos. La verdad es que no tengo mucho material, y los que tengo son bastante baratos, pero intento ingeniármelas con lo que tengo para poder llevar a cabo las obras.

This time the reason why I drew was because I wanted to make a gift for my sister, who recently moved to another house with her boyfriend. So, what better than making a handmade decoration for those empty walls?

I was thinking about what she might like.... Besides liking cats (which I already gave her for her birthday a cat t-shirt) I also know that they both are interested in Japan.

I searched for some images on Google that could inspire me and in the end, I found a picture of Mount Fuji. And I got to work!

En esta ocasión el motivo por el que dibujé fue porque quería hacerle un regalo a mi hermana, que hace poco se mudó a otra casa con su novio. Entonces, ¿qué mejor que hacer una decoración artesanal para esas paredes vacías?

Estuve pensando en qué podría gustarle... A parte de gustarle los gatos (que ya le regalé por su cumpleaños una camiseta de gatos) también sé que a ellos dos les llama la atención Japón.

Busqué algunas imágenes en Google que pudiesen inspirarme y al final, di con una foto del monte Fuji. ¡Y me puse manos a la obra!

I wasn't sure if I was going to use my set of oil paints or the acrylics, but in the end I chose the acrylics because it is easier for me to clean the brushes I use.

The truth is that I always get my hands very dirty, even my hair.... I'll tell you in a few minutes what I messed up doing this drawing haha.

No tenía muy claro si iba a utilizar mi set de pinturas al óleo o las acrílicas, pero al final me decanté por las acrílicas ya que luego me resulta más sencillo limpiar los pinceles utilizados.

Lo cierto es que siempre me ensucio mucho las manos, incluso el pelo... Ya os contaré en unos minutos la que lié haciendo este dibujo jaja.

First, with a pencil I drew the silhouette of what would be Mount Fuji, its snowy summit, and made the division where I would paint the water below.

Primero, con un lápiz dibujé la silueta de lo que sería el monte Fuji, su cima nevada, e hice la división donde pintaría el agua de abajo.

Then I placed dark blue, light blue and white paint on top of the mount to mix them and paint the sky. (Here came my first incident, I squeezed the white paint can too hard because it wouldn't come out, and I splashed my hair a little 🤣).

Después coloqué encima del monte pintura azul oscuro, azul claro y blanco para mezclarlos y pintar el cielo. (Aquí vino mi primer incidente, apreté mucho el bote de pintura blanca porque no salía, y me salpiqué un poco el pelo 🤣).

In the photo you can see that I started with a flat brush to be able to spread the paint of the 3 colors, and then I changed to a round brush to spread it better.

When I finished with the sky, I put dark blue and white paint on what would be the water (this time we dispensed with the light blue color) and mixed it as well.

Then I painted the mountain with the dark blue, leaving the snowy layer unpainted, because we are going to use another color.

En la foto podéis ver que empecé con un pincel plano para poder expandir la pintura de los 3 colores, y luego cambié a una brocha redonda para esparcirla mejor.

Cuando terminé con el cielo, puse pintura azul oscura y blanca en lo que sería el agua (esta vez prescindimos del color azul claro) y lo mezclo también.

Luego pinté el monte con el azul oscuro, dejando la capa nevada sin pintar, porque vamos a utilizar otro color.

I used the same light blue color that I had used to mix the colors of the sky, and painted the top. Then with a brush I spread some of that paint on the rest of the mountain, and with the help of a piece of paper I gave it a few touches to make the "ice" or "snow" effect.

Then I painted the top in white and with the fork, I scratched a little the surface so that the light blue that we had put as a base could be seen underneath.

To paint the clouds, I dipped a cotton ball in white paint and began to gently tap them into shape.

Next, I used grass green paint to put right between the mountain and the water. I brushed over the green, with a lemon yellow for the vegetation effect, and started using white for the movement of the water.

Utilicé el mismo color azul claro celeste que había usado para mezclar los colores del cielo, y pinté la cima. Después con un pincel esparcí un poco de esa pintura por el resto del monte, y con ayuda de un trozo de papel le di unos toquecitos para hacer el efecto "hielo" o "nieve".

Luego pinté de color blanco la cima y con el tenedor, arañé un poco la superficie para que se viera por debajo el azul celeste que habíamos puesto de base.

Para pintar las nubes, mojé un algodón en pintura blanca y empecé a dar golpecitos suaves para ir dándoles forma.

Después, usé pintura verde césped para poner justo entre el monte y el agua. Di pinceladas por encima del verde, con un amarillo limón para el efecto de vegetación, y empecé a usar el blanco para el movimiento del agua.

I spread the white with a brush, and then dipping the tips of the fork in the paint I made small circles to create a little "foam" in the water.

El blanco lo esparcí con un pincel, y luego mojando las puntas del tenedor en la pintura hice pequeños circulitos para crear un poco de "espuma" en el agua.

I left the painting to dry in a high place where my cats would not get close and stain it, and I took the opportunity to wash my hands.

After the paint was dry, I had to draw the cherry trees and give the last details.

The materials I used for this were a black permanent marker, fuchsia pink and then white acrylic paint, and the ear sticks tied with a rubber band.

Dejé el cuadro secándose en un lugar alto donde mis gatos no se acercasen y se manchasen, y aproveché a lavarme las manos.

Después de que quedó seca la pintura, quedaba dibujar los cerezos y dar los últimos detalles.

Los materiales que utilicé para esto fueron un rotulador permanente de color negro, pintura acrílica rosa fucsia y posteriormente blanca, y los bastoncillos de oreja atados con una gomilla.

First I used fuchsia pink for the cherry trees, and then I added a bit of white on top, also with the help of the sticks, to make a contrast.

In this part, drawing the branches with the marker, it turns out that the marker exploded in my hand, besides that I stained the entire table and the floor 😅 a couple of drops also fell on the canvas. Fortunately it was just that and I could fix it, it was barely noticeable in the final result.

Primero utilicé el rosa fucsia para los cerezos, y luego añadí un poco de blanco por encima también ayudándome de los bastoncillos, para que hiciera contraste.

En esta parte, dibujando las ramas con el rotulador, resulta que se me explotó el rotulador en la mano, además de que manché toda la mesa y el suelo 😅 también cayeron un par de gotas encima del lienzo. Afortunadamente sólo fue eso y pude arreglarlo, apenas se notó en el resultado final.
