Canlaon City, Negros Oriental is where Mt. Canlaon lies and also the home of Century Tree and Inland Resort. Most tourist came here to hike and visit the famous Falls. The place is indeed exquisite, fortunate for the abundance of nature and a cold weather.

Five years ago, I went here for the first time for Christmas. I was astonished to witness the beauty of Canlaon upclose. Fortunately, memories stayed with me until now. Back then, I didn't have device to capture its beauty as a memento. I can only jive down my memory lane and daydream if I ever wanted to rethink of that moment. Recently, I went back there again. Yet, could you imagine how unlucky am I? It was raining when we went, but the trip couldn't be delayed anymore since we were attending a birthday party.

The typhoon have been out of the Philippines only for a day or two when we scheduled the trip. It was still raining when we arrived at the bus terminal at around 4:00 am. We planned to leave at the first trip of the bus schedule, and we could get there earlier. It didn't took us to wait longer as the bus left a while later. Along the way, my two buddies were asleep but I couldn't. I wanted to see everything on my and compare the changes it has now from my previous trip there. That's just typical of me in every travel. I would like to see everything we passed along the highway, as if making my own map in mind.

After two hours, we'd had passed few cities already but the wasn't ceasing its downpour. And there, my mindset as a rescuer kicked in. I was checking the Windy App on my phone from time to time to monitor the weather conditions from each place we had passed by. Luckily, the rain disappeared as we reached the border of Negros Occidental and Oriental. No more heavy rains and strong winds, just the gloomy skies!

The sight of the volcano was getting nearer as we were drawing closer to our destination. Sadly, no matter how excited I was to see its magnificent cone, I can only contain it as it was surrounded by thick clouds. It was expected for having a rainy weather, but I can't help to hope that the clouds could disappear later.

So, it's still cloudy when we arrived but it's better than to rain non-stop. The travel time from Bacolod to Canlaon City via bus is 4 hours, and to Dumaguete might reached 6 hours. I like the weather here, it's always cool even in the summer. It's warmer at the peak of the day, but as the sun sets on the after, it will be colder again. Actually, you don't need to install an air conditioner here, just open your windows and set your fan at number 1, it would be enough.

After lunch time where the party begun, I have fallen asleep after eating. Probably, exhausted from all the work I have done this week and the long travel hours. It's not just an ordinary afternoon nap but slumped into a deep sleep until midnight. That's how my body craved for rest, I guess. I wasn't even bothered by the loud chatters of the guest in the living room. I enjoyed my sleep like I haven't sleeped well for days. The weather was fine the next day and the sun finally showed up. I went for a walk in the streets, so I could have a closer look of the Canlaon volcano.

I guess, it wasn't really my lucky day or the Mt. Canloan wasn't still in a good mood to show up. Oh, it's still a pleasant day for walk, though. Since it's not that hot even in the late morning, I took myself out for a small tour around the place.

I noticed an area with an undergoing construction. Good to know that they are improving the place. From the last time I went here, there wasn't much progress aside from the new grocery stores in the capital like Puregold and Prince Hypermart.

I only told my friends that I would go out for a while, so I went back by taking the other path for shorter route. There I could see the ricefields and the mountain ranges on the distance going to Dumaguete City. This isn't a travel post to indulge myself with the beautiful spot attractions here, but to take some rest from hustles and bustles of my daily life in city. And after this, I went back to sleep again and woke up at dinner. Somehow, my soul was revitalized and has enough energy again to do more stuff.
