Scream Announces New Album for Dischord Records, Unveils New Song
Virginia's hardcore veterans, Scream, have exciting news for their fans. After a hiatus of twelve years, the band is back with a brand-new album titled "DC Special," scheduled to drop on November 10 via Dischord Records. To give a taste of what's to come, they've released the track "DC Special Sha La La." The album will be a welcomed addition to their already impressive discography, featuring contributions from a variety of talented musicians.
Scream's history dates back to their first album, "Still Screaming," released in 1983. Comprised of Skeeter Enoch Thompson, Kent Stax, and brothers Franz and Pete Stahl, the band has had a lasting impact on the hardcore scene. "DC Special" was recorded with the help of Don Zientara and Ian Mackaye at Zientara's esteemed Inner Ear Studio, which closed its original location in 2021.
What makes this album even more special is the collaborative effort, with artists like Amy Pickering, Mark Cisneros, Joe Lally, and even Dave Grohl, who previously drummed for the band in the late 1980s, making appearances on the record.
Scream's last release was the "Complete Control Recording Sessions EP" in 2011, and their latest studio album, "Fumble," dates back to 1993. With "DC Special" on the horizon, fans can look forward to a rejuvenated sound from these hardcore legends.
Here they are leaving the stage for the final time :
