Peter Gabriel Collaborates with Skrillex on New Song "This Is Home"
Peter Gabriel, the legendary musician known for his pioneering contributions to the world of music, has released a new song titled "This Is Home." What makes this release particularly intriguing is that it was conceived with input from none other than electronic music heavyweight Skrillex during the early stages of its creation.
The collaboration between Peter Gabriel and Skrillex may come as a surprise to many, but it demonstrates the beauty of musical experimentation. The unlikely pair met in Gabriel's home studio, where Skrillex initially encouraged Gabriel to write a song centered around the nightlife and staying up all night in a nightclub. However, Gabriel decided to take a different creative direction, drawing inspiration from themes of family and home.
Gabriel explained, "I made it more about family and home, and I like it. Though we took the song in this other direction, it was an interesting experience nonetheless, and I think it is good for me to be taken outside my normal comfort zone sometimes."
The song, now released as a "Dark-Side Mix" by Tchad Blake, features the beautiful Swedish voice choir Orphei Drängar and an exquisite orchestral arrangement by John Metcalfe. Gabriel also delved into the creative process, highlighting the influence of the iconic Tamla Motown rhythm sections and the unique vocal approach he explored in "This Is Home."
"This Is Home" marks the 10th release from Gabriel's highly anticipated album, "I/O." The album features collaborations with artists like Brian Eno and Richard Russell, showcasing Gabriel's commitment to pushing the boundaries of his artistry. With a track record of releasing songs on each full moon, Gabriel's creative journey continues to captivate music enthusiasts worldwide.
