Judas Priest Unleashes 'Panic Attack' – A Glimpse of 'Invincible Shield'
Judas Priest, the iconic metal band, is back with a new sonic assault, "Panic Attack," the lead track from their upcoming album, "Invincible Shield." For die-hard Priest fans, this release is a significant moment as the band continues to build their monumental discography.
"Panic Attack" wastes no time, opening with an epic guitar and synthesizer introduction masterfully crafted by guitarists Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner. The buildup lasts for over a minute, setting the stage for the classic Priest barn burner that follows. Singer Rob Halford, the Metal God himself, takes the reins and delivers a searing vocal performance that's nothing short of electrifying.
"Invincible Shield" is a highly anticipated album in the world of heavy metal, marking Judas Priest's 19th studio offering. The band officially announced the LP alongside their appearance at the Power Trip festival. It's their first release since "Firepower" in 2018.
The lineup for "Invincible Shield" remains rooted in the classic Priest formation: Rob Halford on vocals, Ian Hill on bass, Scott Travis on drums, and guitarists Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner. Interestingly, Andy Sneap, who joined Judas Priest's touring lineup in 2018, covering for Tipton due to Parkinson's disease, is also part of the album as a player and producer.
Speaking about the new album in an interview with Audio Ink Radio, Faulkner hinted at the differences that set "Invincible Shield" apart from previous Priest material. He explained that the album takes a more progressive approach with additional musical elements, giving it a distinct twist.
"It's '70s Priest, but it's not a retro album, by any means,” Faulkner clarified. “It's the influence of '70s Priest in the progressive sense, but it sounds like Priest in 2023."
With "Panic Attack" as the herald, Judas Priest is gearing up to deliver an album that encapsulates their legendary sound while embracing the evolution of their music. For fans old and new, the future of Judas Priest looks as powerful and unstoppable as their music has ever been.
